I'm excited they are putting in a Katz Deli where the Jason's Deli used to be. Be a good Sunday breakfast option since the Toasted Yolk closed a year ago.
I'll be curious to see what they do with the rest of that strip center between Katz & Pit Room

I don't know how Fishing Tackle Unlimited stays open. There is never anyone in there.

I went in there one time when I was waiting on an Uber. Looked at some waterproof shells that were over $300. I guess maybe they make their money in the summer months but it was just me, 1 other dude, 2 workers, and a bunch over over priced stuff.

Toasted yolk was garbage.
We started hitting Buzz and Bites on Blalock occasionally. It's pretty small, which sucks because sometimes you have to sit outside, but you avoid the methhead service.
We would go there every Sunday after church. Food and service were always good for us. Portions were way too big, but price was reasonable.
Now we end up a lupe or Goode Co cantina usually.

Does anybody know what they are working on at the Pinecrest GC site right now? They installed a parking lot and now some light towers at the south end of the gessner frontage. Maybe some sort of sports complex?

One section of 3 Corners apartments at Teague and Kempwood is on fire. Sirens for the pat 20 minutes and occasional pops that sounds like ammunition cooking off.

Miami gardens next! All these awful apartment complexes is why the north side of SB will always be rough no matter how much gentrification and money is poured in

They've knocked those ones out relatively quick. They have been working on their Kirby location for at least 2 years now. It took them almost 3 years to get their snow cone place open on shepherd. No telling when they will get their new pizza place on shepherd opened up too.

Likely this. They've flown over my place twice - and so low that it rattled items in my house. Sounded much larger than the chopper shown in the photo. Military transport size I think.

Each time it was 2 of those smaller police size helicopters in front followed by 2 large military helicopters (black hawk type) all flying in formation.
They were low as hell and banking pretty hard right over the house. Loud but kinda cool to watch roll through.

I talked to the owner a couple of weeks ago, and he said they were focusing on getting Kirby location opened first, and they were shooting to have the Gessner location opened by the end of the year. It doesn't look like there's 3 months of work left to do there, but who knows.

I don't think I've been to Katz's since probably 2008.
Went there on Sunday around 1030. It was a 30 min wait. Food was as good as the one on Westheimer. Service was friendly and helpful. Still a bit of kinks to figure out. Forgot one our our orders and had to quickly make it and forgot a seasoning topping on another.
They have an small outdoor patio area but it wasn't open.
Most of the seating are raised booths so if you have problem with a 4-5" step (like a lot of old people) you might have to wait longer for a table.
