I was playing a lightning round after work out there by myself one day, prob about 12-13 yrs ago. I was pushing the cart through the fairway of par 5 hole #13 when a super tall black homeless man approached me with a bag full of range balls, which he had clearly collected from the range net about 30 yards away from us. He desperately tried to sell me some and I politely declined and explained that I only play a specific brand of ball. He was not happy but he didn't get aggressive or anything.
I finish that hole, set up on the tee box of the next hole (par 3) hear a little commotion and then look up and see that that bum, and a few of his bum friends were openly shooting up in the gazebo directly in front of me. I then struck it pure and landed the ball about 6-7 ft from the cup.
Still not as crazy though as the time several muslim ladies in full garb with only eyes showing would not get off of the green on hole #12. I walked in from about 150 yds out to politely try to explain that I was playing golf and that it was not safe for them there and they didn't budge. I go back out to my ball, take a few practice swings and then wave my arm to motion for them to get away and yell "please move or you might get hurt", to which they responded by yelling at me and making weird gestures. I hit into them and then they started scattering like they wer back home and air raid sirens were going off.
Still not as crazy though as the time I was walking through the fairway of hole #1 and I hear the approaching sound of cop sirens, I turn around to see a multiple squad cars and then see that they are chasing a black youth on a dirt bike. He jumps onto the course and guns it through the fairway towards me...I sh** you not, he slows down a bit and waves and says "sorry!" with a nervous smile on his face and then guns it straight through to the other side of the course. I was actually pulling for him to get away.
Cliff's notes...Hermann Park is nuckin futs. All of these things happened while I was playing late afternon rounds by myself too, so it's basically like they didn't happen.
