What are the risks in changing the transmission fluid if it's never been done prior? It has about 110k miles on it. It's the ****ty 8 speed Chevy transmission. Was thinking just a fluid and filter change and not a full flush. It's my company vehicle and we never change anything other than oil but the transmission has a shudder recently, so I'm trying to decide if I should.

I think pan drop, filter change, re-fill is probably fine and probably good maintenance practice.

That being said, my FIL just had a 8-speed failure on his Chevy, so it may just be a matter of time.

Sounds like you're going to need a new company vehicle then. Go ahead and do a full flush to guarantee the transmission failure.

This is the second transmission for this truck. The first one went out at 49k miles

Don't gm have a TSB about lubegard to address the 8 speed shudder?

I've dropped the pan every 50k at the dealership with new fluid and filter; no flush. About to hit 200k on my 2019 and it's starting to act up a little bit but nothing daily or constant. If there's a fix for the 8-speed I never heard about it.

Yea that's it. I have a lifetime power train so I guess I'll see how far it goes. Been approved so far but waiting on some push back soon.
