It's about time to start thinking about my wife's next car. She currently drives a 2020 Acura RDX. It's nice but also a bit boring.

When I took it on for service last week I had some time to kill so I checked out an MDX. I like the look better than the RDX, but we don't have a need for a three row. I don't like the non-coupe GLC or GLE, and she doesn't like either configuration. The SQ5 is a contender, and I'd love her to have a Cayenne if I could stomach the maintenance costs.

Any other recommendations we should look at?

The MDX with SAWC or whatever the acronym is for their awesome AWD with torque vectoring rear diff is a pretty great ride, and it is a 3-row only in the sense that it has 6 seat belts, no one could really ever sit back there because they didn't grow the wheel base that much overall.

Might be a great sporty SUV with Acura reliability and resale.

I want to say… a 4Runner? Maybe a kicks (Nissan)? I think a family member has an expedition.

Purchased a new Lexus RX500H non plug in hybrid as my wife's daily driver. She loves it! I like driving it as well.
Good room in both the seating and cargo area. Pretty darn quick performance. All wheel drive and steering.

We do recommend…

New Honda Passport is pretty nice at the higher trim levels and all kinds of space in the back.

I'm looking VERY closely at the Mazda CX-70's with the I-6.
Was looking at the 2025's but now I think I will wait until the 2026's come out.

RIP FX35/37 and QX70

Been in a couple, nice interior, RWD OR AWD, no CVT and 325 hp na V6. They made a few with a 5.0 V8.

CX-70 is really nice.

Been very happy with mine the past two years. Great cabin, plenty of oomph even just the 40 series (motor is underrated), quiet and comfy.

I just had a defender 110 for a week on vacation and really liked it. I have been considering it as my next purchase. However, I am also considering the 130 even though I have zero uses for a 3rd row of seating. Just looks cool.

We had a FX35. I loved that vehicle. Only reason we got rid of it is because the tech was outdated and my wife wanted something more up to date.
