Anyone here purchased the 2025? I have a 2016 and the 6 cylinder is so reliable. Now that they're only selling in 4 cylinder, not sure I want to be an early adopter.

Not helpful, but given some of the issues the Taco and Tundra have encountered, I'd sit this one out. I own a 2018 that I plan to drive into the ground

A 2016? You have at least another 20 years left in that one

Yep. I just bought transmission fluid and gear oil last night to service the transmission, transfer case, and differentials on our 2016 this weekend. Planning to keep it for a long time.

Be ready to fork over 60k+ if you want anything other than a box, steering wheel, and maybe some tires, if they're feeling generous. The way they handle added features is ridiculous. You want one thing? Well gotta go to a higher trim that costs another $5k, just to have the option to add a $3k package that includes that one feature. You want something else? Rinse and repeat. A 40k starting point is basically for a frame and some basic features. Yes, I know a lot of auto companies are doing this now (not as much Honda), but Toyota has taken this **** to the extreme, at least with the trucks and the 4runner.

Oh, and their quality control no longer backs up these ridiculous prices. Their quality has taken a big hit of late, and they no longer have the commanding lead against the competition to warrant what they are charging now.

I was all set to get the new 4runner, but these games and prices have pushed me to look American for similar quality at much lower prices. And in a lot of ways superior in capabilities.

Same reasons why we are most likely getting a gx550 for my wife's next vehicle to replace her current 4runner. I'm not paying 65k for a 4runner with leather seats. I'd rather pay 10 more for the lexus

Scotty Kilmer says to wait at least two years for a Toyota turbo engine, right after the laments of ditching one of the most reliable engines & transmissions of all time

4-banger?

4-banger?

Are the words "eco"... "boost"... or any other associated monikers attached to the engine name?

Your 2016. Keep it. Walk away from the 4-banger.

We bought a new 2024 late last year. It's an old platform but that was exactly why we bought it. It's got an old inefficient engine. It's heavy and constructed of steel, not aluminum. There's no stop/start technology. The shifter is a console mounted stick, not a button or a knob. The radio and climate controls are easy to navigate, not a computerized control center. All of the above satisfied the old man in me. We didn't want to risk the 4Runner going the way of the Tundra, which I don't know if they've fixed the issues on or not. I hope they get it right with the 4Runner but we have no regrets going with a 2024.

My sister bought one of the new Land Cruisers earlier this year, based on her feedback I'd rather have a previous generation.

Bought one in April and absolute love it. Traded in a 2018 F-150 and don't miss the truck at all. Handles well, good acceleration and plenty of room for 2 people. The backseat is a step down from the truck, but we don't have passengers often. Really love the mix of knobs and switches to go with the touch screen.

I thought the 4 cylinder in the new LC felt terrible. I'd imagine it is the same engine, so I wouldn't be interested.

If you were using the online "build it" tool on the Toyota website using a zip code in the Gulf States Toyota territory (Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas), then that is the reason it was making you add other packages to get what you were trying to add. The build it tool through GST only shows you options that are present on vehicles GST has in their current inventory or coming soon in their allocations, not what is actually possible to get on the vehicle. GST is terrible about adding multiple packages to their allocated vehicles, particularly stuff added by them during "dealer prep" at the port. If you don't want to deal with all those extra add-ons, look outside the GST footprint and make a deal with a different dealer and then go pick it up or have it shipped to you.

We wanted a 4Runner with the KDSS suspension and that is an option that GST simply doesn't allocate on their vehicles, period. So I worked with Mountain States Toyota in Denver and got the one I wanted, then my wife and I flew up there on a Friday and my wife and I made a weekend out of driving it home.

Well, that is interesting. I didn't know different geographical regions could have different option lineups like this.

We had the 4Runner on our short list as well but quickly ditched it in favor of the Kia Telluride X Line. About the same capabilities, V6, way damn nicer and more comfortable, and less expensive.

The dealerships in the GST states and the states served by Southeast Toyota (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina) have separate distributor relationships that control what is available to dealerships there. The dealerships in the rest of the country get their vehicles directly from Toyota. GST can get things beyond what is ordered in their allocated vehicles, but it has to be special ordered as an add-on after the rest of their allocated vehicles get built. I did that to get a double cab long bed Tacoma through Aggiepaintrain's contact in Dallas back in 2016. The dealerships I spoke to in Houston were trying to tell me Toyota didn't make double cab long bed Tacomas because GST didn't have any allocated and they couldn't see any available in their system or via the build tool.

I am really glad we got our 2022 4runner before they went to the 4-banger.
