My 2022 Kia Telluride has a leaking CV boot/ Damaged CV Axle, discovered by my mechanic during an oil change. It should be covered under the powertrain warranty, but my mechanic called Kia and they told him it was normal wear and tear so not covered. I'm going to pursue it myself but l've actually never had a warranty claim - do I just make an appointment and take it to a dealer? Or is there an online process? It sounds like I'm going to have to argue so l want the most likely-to-succeed process.

Car is a 22 Kia Telluride EX with 45k miles. I'm the second owner and it's had regular maintenance.

Okay video isn't working.

No idea of the best route, but the times I've had warranty issues, I've just taken it to a dealership and they handle everything.

Your link doesn't work. Is the CV boot torn or just leaking? If it's torn, I don't see the replacing the axle under warranty. Torn boots are usually considered a maintenance item.

I'd play dumb if the boot isn't torn. Make a normal warranty appointment letting the service advisor know you have a click in front and let them diagnose the issue.

I assume it's torn since it's leaking grease - you can see it splattered underneath. I guess I'm surprised that it's considered wear and tear at 45,000 and only on side is affected. (This is front passenger side).

I don't hear a click yet but with the leaking grease I assume it's a matter of time.

My wife's 2021 had the same issue on the front passenger side. I discovered it when chasing down an oil leak (which was coming from the oil filter housing...a known problem).

Dealer fixed it under warranty no questions asked. ~80k miles.

Thanks. I'm here now at Parkway Kia with my fingers crossed.

ETA they completely replaced it under warranty, no hassle at all.
