I hate hate hate the sound of people crumpling a plastic/mylar package while examining or moving it. Like when someone picks up a chip bag at the grocery store to read the label or is moving anround a big of dog food and keeps crumpling the packaging. I hate that person until they stop.

Ha, I'm not quite at that level but I was at a wedding this past weekend and there was a pretty young lady there prolly early 20's. The whole service she is just munching on chewing gum. It wasn't loud but just made me think really? You can't go 30 minutes without having to chew on something?

Bumping this.

Anyone have any professional advice?

The weird thing is this has only been the last 15+ years. Not my entire life.

In a meeting and someone was chewing on hard candy the entire time. I wanted to punch him. Couldn't focus on anything else.

This is actually a real thing that happens to women as their hormone levels decline during perimenopause (along with a whole host of other weird symptoms).

The most offensive noise for me is the crinkling of those cheap/thin plastic water bottles as someone is finishing the last sips. Just awful. God forbid if someone intentionally crushes a water bottle in my presence.

Is it really related to hormones? I had no idea, but that makes so much sense. Both times I was pregnant sounds drove me absolutely bonkers. Every time I heard my cat scratching around in the litter box or like you said the plastic crinkle noise, I wanted to RAGE.

According to what I've read, it can be. Hormone fluctuations cause all sorts of really weird symptoms - phantom smells, itching all over the body (but especially in the ears), ringing in the ears/tinnitus, lightheadedness, numbness/color changes in the tips of the fingers, and probably more than I'm forgetting (because that's a symptom, too)!
