I think there are like 5 different forms of magnesium and one is supposed to be utilized for better sleep.

Magnesium Glycinate. Take it every night along with a very low dose Melatonin. Before I took just the melatonin and my sleep quality has improved.

I will say that it has made my bowel movements incredibly predictable too… like every morning +/- 20 mins after I wake up now. Not complaining just noting the only "side effect" I have seen.

I'll toss in a vote for Magnesium L-threonate. It is supposedly the only version that crosses the blood brain barrier.

I'm taking that claim at face value as it's been super effective.

I'm currently taking magnesium with L-Threonate. Definitely helps with sleep. I actually bought it by accident. Meant to buy L-Theanine, which I've taken before, but got lazy reading the labels. They both work. The only "side effect" I've had is more vivid dreams and some nightmares when I first started taking it. I'm attributing this to potentially getting deeper into REM sleep with the supplement.

100% my experience, too. Though I don't often use melatonin.

Are you taking the Natural Vitality one from HEB? I do two Teaspoons in tart cherry juice every night before bed. Crazy dreams, but damn I'm getting the best sleep of my life.

After 4 nights the Magnesium and Melatonin combo have helped me sleep much better. One night I woke up and it still took almost 2 hours before I fell back asleep.
But the other 3 nights were great.

I feel much better.
