The historical movie thread and this Cheddar Man/relative DNA match story got me thinking.

Kinda dark, but I did some quick, rudimentary Google searches but didnt uncover anything.

We have all read about the attrocities that the Red Army (or any any Army for that matter) commited against the German female popluation as they advanced through Germany into Berlin.

Have there been any instances where some people get linked up on Ancestory.com or some DNA site in the modern era only to discover that their (great) grandfather had been a perpertrater.

I suppose you coukd ask the same question in a less dark manner, and it just be consensual liberated/liberator but with unknown or "lost" partners.

With the technology we have now, its bound to happen at some point.

It would actually make for a pretty interesting movie or mini-series....could have multiple story lines from then and now that end up weaving together. The war from each of their perspectives. Did he survive the war? Did she survive the war? What paths did their families take post-war all the way up to now.....kinda like a Kennith Follett book series

Certainly possible. Even though the number of US rapists is small, it's more likely to find them than the Russians. Or at least specific Russians. I say that because probably very few Russians are submitting their DNA into databases. So the answer would be some German guy or gal does a DNA kit and it doesn't say Vlad from Vladivostok, but hits as some kind of European/Urals or something.

I have seen a lot of videos on YouTube where American servicemen who served in Korea and the Philippines in the 60s and 70s are getting matches with their kids. In those cases, or at least the ones where they talk to a news crew, it's all consential, one-night flings, etc. But rape is possible in those cases.

But it could make a great book or movie, right!?!

DNA testing is already discovering affairs and incest. Finding wartime rapes and affairs would not be a surprise.

I would like to do some DNA testing, not that I expect a surprise, but I am not interested in giving info to databases who will do as they will with it

I saw kids in Afghanistan that certainly didn't look like they belonged there.

Fair skin, red hair, and blue eyes are found in western and central Asian populations. Rare, but normal. Alexander's army wouldn't have looked that out of place with most people in the Persian empire.

I was told when we were there it was related to the Russians and rape/relationships from previous wars

I was contacted on ancestry by a lady who was born in Jamaica. Her mother had been a singer in a club/bar. My dad was a marine and was briefly in Jamaica. He's got another daughter. My dad, sister, and I all did our DNA and we were all matches.
