Serious question: Why did Zeno transfer here instead of somewhere he would get to play?

I think he know's his future isn't football. So my guess is it was education or he wants to learn under Elko/Klein and become a coach.

My guess is Klein and Elko told him they were bringing him in to mentor the younger QB's, not to challenge for the starting position, or probably even 2nd string.

I agree but he still could have gone somewhere else to play.

He probably got a nice payday, and he has an opportunity to get his degree from A&M. Might be a better package overall than what he would get from a place where he has a better chance to start.

Also, given our history with injuries at QB he does have a chance to play QB in Kyle Field.

It's funny how people see what they want.

I've paid about as little attention to Aggie football this offseason as possible after being a die hard for the previous 2 decades. I looked at that yesterday and literally thought to myself, that's the least freshmen and sophomores we've had in key positions in a depth chart in a while. Probably since 2015.

Bingo. He got a paycheck, great football team and top of the line experience. Add in the fact that he could possibly play and it was the best opportunity by far

This is the tell tale year to find out just how good our staff is.

I think it is very unlikely he plays at all.

Our defensive backs have an average of two inches over our wide receivers?

Alabama 2020 starting WR's:

Waddle 5'9
Smith 6'0
Metchie 6'0

Now I'm not saying we'll be 2020 Bama by any means...but what I am saying is we'll be better ; )

Height at WR is not as big of an issue as so many want ot to be.

I generally have a very negative view of our football program given the last 25 years of suckage, but I don't really care about WR height as long as they are elite athletes, and I do think Concepcion, Craver, and Bethel-Roman are at least elite athletes, and everyone claims Terry Bussey is too (I don't see it, but maybe). Noah Thomas was 6' 4" or whatever and didn't do **** for the last 3 years. We also have some capable tight ends who will have a size advantage. I don't think WR height is going to hurt us.

To add to the WR height discussion. Niblack is rumored to be a guy we will use in multiple spots on the field.

We're a little thin on Long Snappers. Don't want to be thin there- believe you me.

Also, we have more tight ends than the 1988 JC Penny catalogue.

We have 5, which is an extremely normal number. One could argue 6 is the ideal number. Karner medically retired.

One is more of a flex WR/te than a true TE, too. So really 4 total inline TEs on the roster. If anything it's a little light

Yep. Aparently the top 3 are all expected to play about equally and the best TE we have may surprise some.

7-5 is my prediction for the year, but it's definitely not our ceiling. I think our ceiling is 9-3. Not a playoff team, but it is possible we could get to 10 wins with a bowl win. Again, I don't see that happening and would never predict it given how we typically perform, but it's not completely out of the question.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I know most are beaten down by the program. I get it. It's easy to predict 8-4, and I told myself 8-4 6 months ago and that I'm not allowed to come off that. So even I'm doing that until we prove otherwise.

But if you look at the years we do better than 8-4, namely 2010, 2012, and 2020, they all have at least one thing in common and usually two. Tons of experience overall, and a very good if not great offensive line with nfl players and experience on it.

Well this team has the most experience, particularly along the offensive line, than we have had since those 2020 and 2012 years. They have at least 4 projected draft picks on the OL with a chance at 6 when all is said and done over the next 2-3 years with Nabou.

I don't know what will happen, but this roster has far more in common with 2020 than it does the 2022/2023 teams, on paper. It's fine to be beaten down, but to not at least acknowledge some differences with this roster versus many of our past rosters in terms of experience and that offensive line talent/experience would be overlooking some very important things.

No we're not

We are a little thin. The bigger concern is the lack of talent. We don't have an elite linebacker on the roster. We should have Anthony Hill starting for us this year, but we of course lost that battle.

Defensive front 7 is a big question mark and almost certainly our biggest weakness.

AGAIN we look at the depth chart and ask ourselves how in the hell could anyone beat us with this group? And then before we know it....we are 8-4
vander54
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think talent wise we are in good shape. The only potential elite guy would be Mikhail, #8 LB recruit last for this year's class. We have several solid LB though.

How many teams have more than 3 guys who have played as much football as ours?

We may lack the top end guy, but we have the depth. Just don't understand why some of you think other teams go 2 deep full of experienced players. Most don't have a linebacker off the bench who has played before

This.

Nabres, Chase, amanra, and jj are all 6 foot. Average height for wr in the nfl is 6 foot. WR is all about speed, crisp routes, football awareness and hands.

The position has changed over the years. What you described is definitely become prototypical. Its more about the athleticism now rather than the length.

That's because this isn't a depth chart, it's an abbreviated roster. From my count, there is a grand total of one redshirt freshman in the top line (Ashton Bethel-Roman). That's as experienced of a starting lineup as I can remember.

* Four years. We haven't had a healthy QB since the 2020 season.

is no one concerned about the loss of Sam Salz to our depth at wide receiver?
