Could we have more than one mascot? Volume often wins dog fights and no dog is louder than the Beagle. I envision each yell leader with a Beagle and the sweet Beagle song coming out of the tunnel in the pre game. The tremor would strike fear in the hearts of our opponents.

If we are going to go to black uniforms one game a year, maybe we should go to a cat or parakeet or gerbil for one game a year.

My memory is fuzzy on this but didn't A&M say it was considering a mutt around 15 years ago and there was a lot of backlash and the VP of student affairs or something got fired like a month later? Am I completely making this up?

This is a good idea in general. Think about what a powerful and representative symbol Texas A&M by making Reveille a former service dog.

If you want a slap happy goofy dog get a golden doodle poodle. They are friends with everyone and always glad to see you. Very photogenic too. Big dog with a poodle brain.

We seem to have forgotten what a mascot is all about. Malinois! We should start by purchasing a huge liability insurance policy. I am surprised some under- testosterone individual hasn't proposed a pit bull. We could train it to attack guys in striped shirts carrying yellow flags. That would end the holding penalties.

Reveille is our icon with a well recognized image carefully developed over decades. The breed, a rough collie, is perfect for the heavy social calendar that she must meet. Rough collies like people. Your aggressive breeds may not handle the first kid that pulls her tail very well. I raised and trained border collies for years when I was ranching. Great dogs IF you have a cowherd.

There are a lot of schools that would pay big money for the branding and goodwill we enjoy with Rev. Rev, immaculately groomed, running in at Kyle Field in her blanket shouts beauty and good taste…something that we sometimes lack.

No offense to the OP, but this is another "good idea" that really isn't a good idea but no one wants to shut it down so we waste countless hours studying the not so good idea. Don't believe me ? Try it and see what happens. She is the perfect mascot…..unless you basement dwellers want to propose an Abram's tank.

I don't have overall health statistics, but seems like the average Rev lasts about 12years.
