This highlights how hard it is to appreciate this. Anyone who plays games with a D6 knows how often you can go through 6 droughts. But when they hit, they hit and they are worth it.

Add to this the affermentioned chance to draw a flag and its a play that has a reasonable chance of overall success.

Can still run the deep routes as it creates more stuff underneath and crossing patterns. He's been very inconsistent on deep (overthrows and underthrows in every game this year...KC has bailed him out several times along the way).

Big plays for Craver have been underneath and mid-range, as over the top has been cleared out creating space. It's still the best option for Reed today coupled with more run threats on the outside.

Personally dislike J Rodgers on the call, but after watching the game on TV last night (replay on SEC network), he's spot on with Reed's hesitation, double hitch, lack of confidence in his decision making and missing a ton of checkdowns to RBs and TEs. On the surface, Reed doesn't look like he's going thru all his progressions (does occassionally, but very inconsistent here).

Better defense (UF, LSU, tu) will force him into mistakes.

Cant Do that! Just the threat keeps you honest and with those two guys you have to respect that play. At some point we are gonna hit one with Reed.

We need to call better plays on 3rd and short on on the goal line. The first series that MSU stuffed us was awful just the threat of a run outside wouldve opened up the middle.

Like they said we havent played a full game yet, our ceiling is very high as our offense continues to get better.

Lets take 4 quarters of the 4th quarter vs MSU.

You stop throwing deep, then you lose the ability to run the ball.

Reed's timing is off,
or his visualization of the trajectory needed. gotta keep trying, but maybe be slightly less cautious of possible INT, especially if only single coverage- trust the WR.

Craver and Concepcion are just too good and too explosive to stop taking deep shots to them. I think Reed just has to throw better 50/50 balls. He's throwing balls out of bounds, to close to the boundary, 10 yards over there heads. Give them a chance, we hit on some deep balls we keep 8 guys out of the box.

Agree. Reed is 50/50 or worse beyond 20 yards, and he has no "touch" for even shorter distances. They need to give him more 5-10 yard side line passes; that way if it's a miss,it will be out of bounds rather than an INT.

The problem is Reed is like 1%. It's simply a wasted throw. We'd be better off bringing in Miles just to throw the deep ball, like how teams bring in a good running QB for a play to execute a run option. If the offense cheats, throw it underneath or run it. It's a pass option for a QB that can throw it deep.

I agree that you can't stop running those routes, but to my untrained eye it didn't seem that Concepcion and Craver weren't getting the separation that they had in previous games. When the coverage is close, unless you place the ball perfectly, there is a better chance for an interception versus a reception. Let them take turns clearing out by going long and let the other come in behind for a higher percentage reception.

Shouldn't you be more concerned about getting your 4th catch of 2025, and Gunner's passing, than Reed's?

Without a vertical threat this team will not win a championship of any kind.

So yeah, don't abandon that m.. just have faith it will come. There is no other option

Even if the deep throw is not completed it pushes the defense back opening up other things. Keep chunking!!!!

Receivers gotta run faster to get under the ball.

Run deep pass plays. But, if the receiver is covered, take the check down.

Last week, it looked like Miss State was not going to let us beat them deep. There were several of those plays where Marcel threw to a deep guy covered like a glove when he had guys 15-20 yards down field running around all by themselves.

I think it's time we try this some more.

I agree we should take shots less frequently but you have to do it enough often enough and successfully enough to be a credible threat . More mid range game is better for sustaining drives and helping open up the run game.

Wait a minute that's Kline's 3rd & 5 play. We can't take that away.

Reed has way too strong of an arm to stop the deep throw. He just needs to add a little loft to it, it's really that simple.
