Not exactly a lot of competition for him in that lineup.
Bwtter coach and OL rhan the others had. The many that transfered elsewhere and kicked ass there point to jimbo flaws more than QB shortcomings. That said wigman was overrated.

I never felt like Mond was that good. That being said, I think it was a jimbo issue not a mond issue. Hard to be good when your playcalling head coach doesn't even know what's going on.

Senior Mond coached by Elko and Klein would've been an interesting situation, and I think he would've been better than Reed right now.
But that's just a hypothetical, and I do agree that Reed right now has a higher potential.

In his senior year Mond was a mediocre passer with deer in the headlights. Reed is far and away better.
Mond was incredibly inaccurate. You guys complain about Reed and the deep balls but Mond was iffy at all distances. This ol is way better than what Mond had but on the surface I'll still take Reed all day long.

TexAgs hates Mond because he was so inconsistent and would just disappear in games sometimes. As much credit as he gets for 74-72, it should be mentioned that the only reason we needed a miracle TD drive for OT was because he gone cold and was around a 50% completion rate, and we'd have lost that game of he hadn't screwed up and picked up the ball with his knee down.
I never hated Mond but the best thing mond did was accidentally take a knee. That said he was a fairly solid qb for us.
Reed isn't perfect, but I'm a huge fan. Kid has potential. He has issues with the deep ball, but he's shown a lot of progress across the board.

Overall, he has a tendency to overthrow the deep ball. He was great tonight. These are not mutually exclusive. Hopefully he gets more accurate. Im a big Reed fan but doesn't mean he's perfect.
The hate got so bad that some people were even saying Mond would never be a NFL starter.

This bothered me the most about Mond, even as a fan.
Reed is mostly unfazed by whatever is going on, no matter how bad things start to look. It's one of those big "intangibles" that Reed has.
Red was excellent tonight. He carried a terrible defense to a win. Tonight should build his confidence and increase the respect he gets from the media.

Well, some people also said kyler would never amount to anything and also said Johnny would redefine qbs in the NFL, so I'm not sure anything around here holds weight.

Im not the biggest mond fan, hence my post saying the best thing he did was accidentally taking a knee, but if average is statistically being one of the best qbs we've ever had, I guess you are correct.
I think him being statistically one of our best QBs ever shows how bad our QBs have been….
The thing about Reed which you could pretty much tell right away, is simply that he has "It". Whatever that is. He's just got the right stuff.
Very few QBs have areas of improvement that they can actually improve (touch on deep passes). Usually it's things like "he needs to see the field better", or "he needs to stay patient when the pocket is collapsing", etc… Things that come down to essentially "this guy needs to get more talent"
Reed isn't like that and if he stays in college for his full eligibility I think he's going to end up being pretty formidable by the end.

Reed looked really good. Having said that, he better get those medium range passes over the middle down, or he's going to get his WR's killed.

His late game pass for a first down was omg-good. I forget who caught it but damn.... Reed makes plays when it matters most which is an excellent trait
Reed is a baller and is only getting better. He has the ability to do it all at a high level and sees the field very well. The it factor is growing and can lead some special places if it continues.DTX_12 said:
