So far 2020 is better but this year isn't done. Last year was more of the same. This year the win against ND at their place is not the same. Would have been like Johnny beating Florida in 2011 or Mond beating Alabama in 2020. But then we had the loss to LSU in 2011 and the Ole Miss cancel in 2020.

If we win out a new high bar has been exceeded. Making the playoffs is an acceptable medium bar.

Reed is a competitor like Mond, Johnny, Bucky, Kevin to name a few. Kyler doesn't deserve that distinction here.

We've been through so many QBs since Manziel, only two stand out and it's Mond & Reed.

Mond was a game-manager, he was reliable to not turn the ball over but he didn't make as many big plays.

Reed is more turnover prone because he goes for the big play more though he's been more impressive as a big play guy.

It might be a little of recency bias but I'd take Reed.

The argument shouldn't be Reed vs. Mond. It should be Reed vs. Knight

I don't think you can claim this yet.

Mond: 27 interceptions, 19 fumbles

Reed: 11 interceptions, 7 fumbles so far

I was never a huge Mond fan overall, but he was really good in 2020.

Kyler didn't do **** for us. He turned out to be a great player, but you can't factor in what he did at OU when talking about our QB play

Reed has improved , hes caught up to the speed of the game, and hes got a gamer attitude.

I think him being statistically one of our best QBs ever shows how bad our QBs have been….

Certainly a lot of truth to this. Our "good" QBs have been few and far between, historically.

Tonight was a good game by Reed but he is not as good as Mond. Hopefully he gets there.

I disagree. Mond doesn't win that game against ND. We have at least one loss with Mond as QB.

I felt like Jimbo had to burn timeouts left and right because Mond was always deer/headlights and didn't seem to know WTF he was supposed to be doing half of the time. (Perhaps due to Jimbo's three inch thick hodgepodge binder of offensive 'genius'...)

I never felt like Mond was that good. That being said, I think it was a jimbo issue not a mond issue. Hard to be good when your playcalling head coach doesn't even know what's going on.

I think Mond was studious and devoted enough to operate jimbo's offense. he wasn't lights out but be ended up doing a really good job of what he was asked. be was steady.

He was more serviceable in Jimbo's offense than the other QBs. Again though, I think the problem was Jimbo, not Mond. Jimbo was the lame horse that Mond got stuck jockeying. When your horse sucks, there's only so much you can do, but you'll never reach your potential.

that's hard to say. I wasn't a Mond fan, even as a senior, but you can't really say that about the ND game definitively.
similar to how you can't flip this around and say that sophomore Reed wouldn't win a 7 OT game against LSU.
granted, it was a home game, but Mond had a lot to do with the OT continuations and eventual result.

It might be a little of recency bias but I'd take Reed.

I think you are incorrect on the bold part.

Looks like AI says Mond has slightly more turnovers per game than Reed. (.59 vs .55).

Mond wasn't very good. He was tough as hell and had occasional Eli manning moments (out of nowhere he'd play like the best qb you'd ever seen for a few quarters), but overall he was a below average passer.

As a senior in 2020 with 4 years of experience and playing behind one of the best OLs in the country, he managed a college QB rating of 147. This year, 53 QBs have a higher rating than that. His other 3 seasons were significantly worse.

I don't hate the guy, but let's call that what it was. Mediocre.

Mond's completion rate and turnovers improved every season. 2020 Mond was very good and statistically better than Reed, whether or not he was popular with the fans

Most players do improve during their college career. I expect Reed to do the same. He already looks better to me than last year.

Best QB since JFF.

Change my mind.

Reed is just Mond Redux. Fiddy-fiddy to hit a receiver > 20 yds out. Mediocre at best.
