Luckily it was a bye week. Ended up watching Nascar anyway.

Other than fk muh Disney, why do people love YTTV so much over Hulu live, I've tried both and find Hulu's product offering superior.

For me... I'm not looking for additional content. I generally don't get relief into the current viral show or release. I dony get pulled into a new app for whatever the current hit program is on whatever platform.

There are channels that I know of I have some time I can find something worth watching, I do still tune into the local news for certain information, and some of the national news/cable news programming as well. Them I also get all of my live sports with exception of the Astros.

The Astros are my only complaint for YTTV.

Unless they've added several missing features that YTTV has and Hulu does not, it's objectively not. I was so fed up with Hulu Live when I fired them that I laid out a list of things that made me do it. Some of them were major and some of them were just smaller mechanics things that drove me nuts. I'll try to find it and share and then someone else can tell us if they've fixed any of it. I left Hulu around 6 months ago so maybe they have improved since then.

One has already been mentioned but Hulu Live does not have multi-screen capability and YTTV does. If you are big sports fan, this is a big miss. It's especially egregious since Disney owns most of the sports content in this country. Pretty damn dumb when their main competitor creates a better viewing experience for watching sports than the content owner who is showing the same content.

Off the top of my head:

- Hulu Live does not allow you to reorder your channel guide; YTTV does.
- YTTV allows me to go back to the Menu screens without leaving the current program I'm watching so that I can still mostly see it and at least hear it; Hulu Live takes me all the way back to the menus and exits the current program.
- On the rare occasion I record something, Hulu live is not smart enough to serve up that recording on the Home Screen. I had to search for it or click a few layers in to find it. YTTV serves up the recording first thing on the Home Screen.
- The Hulu Live experience was not consistent across different platforms. The app works differently on AppleTV vs the app on your TV. YTTV works the same everywhere.
- This one may just be my experience, but we always had compression issues with Hulu Live whereas we don't with YTTV. (Flipping in and out from standard definition to HD).

Edit: FTR, I'm no fan of Google. Their Google work suite (MS competitor) is mostly trash. Never mind what I think about the company itself, but we are dealing with lesser of evils here.

Hulu live requires a static IP address. If you use certain internet providers, you've gotta pay extra for that.

I can't believe the nfl is allowing this bs. They should just stream the game on nfl network.

The large majority of NFL games are free over the air in the markets of the two teams playing.

Fubo has the best interface. But it's so expensive

Last time I had Fubo, the YTTV interface was 10x better to me.

But right now at this point, I'm ready to go back to the old days of cable where you didn't have to have 37 different subscriptions or have to have a map built in to know which show or game is on which streaming channel and know which of the platforms carries that channel, etc.

I'm old, I yell at clouds. TV used to be easy to sit and watch, now I get aggravated AF because I spend as much time searching for a game or show as I do actually watching it. I'm about to the point of saying F it and cancelling everything, but my girls would mutiny in the house if I did.

That's great if you are in those markets.

But out of the ~100 or whatever major markets there are, if you aren't in one of the two - you are SOL like I was last night with the Dallas/AZ game.

Fellow old or identify as one. I'm cancelling Fubo today after using the five day free trial. I'll go with the Sling day pass going forward if I need to which I was not aware of until after I got the Fubo trial.

Regarding Fubo, I agree. It does not have the best interface when it takes 3-5 seconds to change the channel which has been my experience using it these past 4 days.

The Missouri game will be on ABC. If you have ROKU, it is my understanding you'll be able to watch it for free.

You can also watch it on Fire TV Stick. This link has instructions on a lot of different ways to watch ABC.

Apologies if this is already been posted. This is a long thread and I guarantee you I've missed some posts.

lol. Seems like a weak bargaining chip. No one watches ABC for election coverage.

This doesn't work for people on YTTV. You have to have a sub through your TV provider to get ABC.

I canceled YTTV so maybe this will work for us.

Or maybe I'll cave and subscribe to the Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Unlimited Bundle. I like Hulu and there's probably Disney content I'll enjoy.

This thread gets better when we share actual experiences, btw. I was not aware of the Hulu Live static IP requirement for instance.

I'll be honest: as I said the cause is in essence the strong intellectual property laws in the U.S. Many folks believe they don't or shouldn't exist and ignore them. But genuinely they are a source of innovation and we ought to respect them. And negotiation is part of how licensing of IP works.

Generally the negotiations are short-lived. And the content providers do enlist customers to let the media services that convey content know they are unhappy. Feel free to let all parties know!!!

We paused yttv and got the Hulu live/disney bundle. I have been appalled by how bad the Hulu live UI is. Yttv had a near perfect replication of the traditional tv/tv guide feel, and was just very intuitive.

I know I'm 35 going on 70 technology wise, but trying to get recordings to work smoothly and not being able to fast forward through commercials have been infuriating.

Probably going to switch back to keeping yttv and just paying to add the espn premium package. Anything to not need Hulu live tv.

I tried YTTV for about three days and while it is usable, I would not call it intuitive. I dropped since one local channel isn't carried: KFAA in DFW is carrying Mavs games and unlike its sister station WFAA-8 (ABC) it isn't included in YTTV it wasn't last December.

What do I use? Spectrum app. No cable boxes. It's awful in every sense of the word. But comes with all streaming I need (Paramount+/CBS, ESPN Ultimate, Hulu, Peacock, FoxOne, plus HBO Max, Disney+, AMC+ mostly with ads but for sports that's pretty good if it's streamed.)

Looks like to me that espn is trying to force viewers to the espn app that's coming for $30 a month. They will do that to all providers ultimately. That isn't right, maybe not legal, but it is their content.

Yes. Not worth $30. I would pay $10 more for YTTV with the espn channels.

Don't overthink it. It is a negotiation with YTTV apparently initiated by YTTV.

I doubt YTTV planned to have the negotiation/blackout happen during the middle of football season. No doubt that is by design by ESPN (made the contract ended now, etc)...

You could black out ESPN any other season of the year and the blowback wouldn't be close... And that points to the larger problem. ESPN is extorting premium dollars year round from providers like YTTV because people want to watch football in the fall. It's bs.

Paused my YTTV yesterday for the first time after 7 years.
Apparently some of you are getting the option to pause for a year. Longest I was offered was 6 months.
Furthermore, $10 coupon y'all are talking about? Wasn't there for me either.
Boy they really know how to treat their loyal customers.
Pretty sure that's about to come to an end. I'll find a way to make it through football season without YTTV and I'm most likely gonna cancel.
