I'm seriously thinking of cancelling YTTV in favor of Hulu + live tv. I would save me about $30.00 per month for three months but then the price jumps to comparable YTTV rates. It's, at my age, change sucks.

Poors who cut the cord
Lol. What?
Up till this time around it's been traditional cable and satellite (cord) companies in these flights!
Pretty sure this is the first big Streaming Fight with a major content provider.

Once again the consumer gets screwed over one way or another.
Decent timing for us with a bye week, but what is happening and what are our contingencies?
It would be peak Aggie to have the most success we've had since the early 90s and also not be able to watch them on TV…for an entirely different reason.
As you all know, I love screwing corporations.
I watch all my games on free streaming services online. Yes, all of them, google. I don't watch games on a TV, I watch them on my desktop on my 2nd monitor while I read meltdowns on TexAgs on the other.
Try it. Don't pay these corps anything.

I just paused my YTTV account and encourage everyone else to do the same.

ESPN has their own streaming service. Jacking up the price to YTTV probably drives more customers to ESPN directly and cuts out the middleman. At a minimum, they want YTTV to pay around the same amount as what one would pay ESPN directly, so they get the same cash. YTTV can cave and just pay it, but then they will turn around pass the increase to all of us. It's just business.

Just as Disney hopes you will.
Disney owns 100% of Hulu as of June 2025

This. Cancelling YTTV is exactly what Disney wants you to do. Since they own Hulu, Fubo, and the new ESPN service, they are doing this to get people to leave Youtube for one of their services.

It's not their fault. They are trying to hold serve against Disney who is ESPN and who is Hulu.
I'm pissed that y'all are making me defend Google.

It's 100% their fault. They came up with a business model where they have practically no leverage.
They can't advocate or protect their customers from price gouging because they have to succumb to whims of a provider or piss off their entire subscriber base.

SEC fans hate the Mouse when they raise prices to pay for their sports.
For those switching services, check with your credit card company as many offer discounts or rebates to various streaming services.

Just out of curiosity, what other business model would you suggest for them?

See my previous post.
I love that you think Google is just looking out for you. Lol.
They aren't. This is pandering to their subscriber-base to show some "good faith effort" of negotiating on your behalf…of which they have no negotiating power. Once subscribers drop to find an alternative means they will absolutely rollover and meet the provider's demands. Likely though, they won't even wait for a subscriber-base to dip.
This is a dog and pony show and some of you are eating it up thinking Google is your buddy at the bar.

Fubo. But I wouldn't drop them. They just aren't caving in to Disney

Disney owns Fubo.
