An 8-4 team is not making playoffs.

A 9-3 SEC team might make the playoffs because the B12 and ACC cannibalized each other this year. Both are looking like 1 bid conferences. And the B10 might only get 2 in if Iowa upsets Oregon this week, Oregon won't have a good resume at that point.

I don't think Texas will get in with a 3rd loss, and I think Georgia will beat Texas on 11/15 to eliminate them.

Three conference losses and 8-4 overall won't be enough even for tu to make it. Too many SEC teams will have better records. The Texas Bowl would love to have them or ou Playing Tech. Now if the sips beat Georgia between the hedges they and beat Arky, they might have a shot as the last team in even with a loss to the Texas Aggies. But Georgia has just as much to play for so I don't see tu winning that one.

Agree on our odds at 10-2 but tu's odds are close to 0% at 9-3. They're not in most brackets today with only 2 losses. No 3 loss team is getting in.

Most of the talking heads have texas in with 9-3. Espn playoff predictor have them in with 67-71% chace if they win 2 out of the last 3. Their odds actually drop if they end up 9-3 then lose the SEC CG given them a 4th loss.

Indiana, tOSU, A&M, Ga, Bama, Big XII & ACC Champs, Gourp 5

Prob in
ND, Ole Miss

Chance
texas, Vany, OU, USC, Mich. All teams have 2 losses. Assuming they all end with 3 losses.

That leaves 2 more spots. I doubt ACC or Big XII gets 2 teams in so that leave the Big 10 and SEC.

Of the 5 teams with a reasonable chance, texas at 9-3 has the tie breaker over vandy/OU. texas will have quality wins over 2 top 10 teams and a top 5 team. USC/Mich will have no similar quality team wins.

If ACC and Big 12 only send one team each, ND plus 3 Big 10 teams leave room for 5 SEC teams. It may depend on if Vandy loses to Tennessee in their last game of the season, and if them and 0u all tie at 9-3 (0u loses to Alabama). sip would have the tiebreaker over both Vandy and 0u due to head-to-head and the better resume than Tennessee in that case. So yes it's possible.

When you have losses matters. If you are losing late it's more damaging than losing early. If we lose two in November it's hard to say that we are peaking in performance and deserve to be treated like one of the best teams in the country. Teams winning in November look like they deserve to be there. Just win baby!

Are you unaware of the computer models that give probabilities or you just don't trust any of them? I am not spit balling 70%.

There is a third of the season left to play, there will be loads of teams with 2 and 3 losses at the end. We had a path with 3 losses last year until the last game of the season.

It's laughable that some of you think a 9-3 tu would absolutely be ruled out of the playoffs.

A 9-3 tu team would have a win over either Georgia or us, both ranked in the top 5. They might have dropped one to FL, but their other losses would be to top 5 teams. Jumping tu all the way up to #13 after beating an overrated Vandy is just the voters precursor to slipping them into the playoffs if they can beat either us or Georgia.

Hell, a tu team that loses to both Georgia and us is still going to get playoff consideration by some of the playoff committee and plenty of the media.

Why do you guys spend so much time worrying about the sips when we are 8-0?? The last thing I care about is sip making the playoffs right now.

0% chance Texas gets in at 8-4 . Totally absurd and prime material for MBG.

About a 30% chance they get in at 9-3. Obviously if a bunch of teams ahead of em lose in the coming weeks then that 30% goes up.

Texas needs a TON of help to get in at 9-3, and even if every domino falls their way it's still unlikely.
