Looking at the stats for the Samford kickers, I would say he's on the team because he's a legacy and will not see game time until the Senior game his senior year. He is by far the smallest kicker and his stats from high school are not impressive.I get that size is not everything for kickers, but he is only 5-7 and142 lbs. Another kicker in his class is 6-0, 193 - and got playing time last year.

Nonetheless, I wish him well. I would hope no kicker (as opposed to punter) gets to do anything other than one kickoff at the beginning of a half.

Things didn't work out in the end with Jimbo, but I've got no beef with him or his kid. He genuinely was building something and got screwed out of the 2020 playoffs in favor of a joke ND squad. Injuries mostly derailed his last couple of seasons and his inability to embrace the transfer portal was the nail in the coffin. The massive buyout was A&M's fault, not Jimbo's.

Jimbo likely will be at Kyle. He's promoting the charity that is seeking donations to pay for research and support for patients with similar conditions. Public visibility is how fund raisers raise funds…and how he gets attention for his next job wherever it will be (after his ACCN gig…)
