This is a great post! Thank you! I remember watching that that game as an 11 year old with my dad '72 wearing my A&M jersey and hat. A couple weeks later we got Christmas card with a picture of the scoreboard on it. Good times…and they are coming back!

Happy Thanksgiving!

GOOD BULL!!!

I hope we strive to keep this post as close to the top of this forum ALL WEEK.

Best post at the most appropriate time that I have seen all year!

And, as a member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Undergraduate Class of 84 (was in med school - Texas A&M College of Medicine - when OP and his teammates BTHO t.u. in Austin) I especially appreciate this reference to that 1984 game in Austin and the accompanying images and materials.

Good memories of a great team and coach!

BTHO t.u. this Friday!!!

Thanks for sharing this! The names on the bus assignments list...sheesh! Had the honor and privilege to serve in the USAF with Jimmie Hawkins, Holmes HS graduate here in SATX. He and I were able to meet up with Shea Walker at JFF's debut vs. Florida back in 2012. Again thanks, this warms the heart! Gig em, God bless and BTHO tu!

I was among the crowd of aggies who rushed the field after the game.

Best of times.

I remember all the Aggies on tu's field after the game.
I was in the corps Sq. 11 class of '84.
That year was my 5th year on the team and the Heaven's Eleven
senior class of '85 came on the field and picked me up
and carried me off the field.
Great experience.

Anyone know the difference between a fairy tale and a true story?
A fairy tale begins "Once Upon a Time " a true story begins this is no $h!t, and this is no $h!t.

I went to the game in Austin 1990, my junior year. Attended yell at the Capitol, sips had greased the flag poles. Several fish attempting unsuccessfully to climb it to fly our flag as we were are yelling for them. Then this pisshead showed up, a mountain of a man, looked made of rock. The entire crowd parted for him like the Red Sea as he walked to the flag pole. He hoisted two fish upon his shoulders and pushed them to the top. As the fish attempted to tie our flag atop the pole, the second string broke. Now this really happened, I kid you not. That pisshead, while holding two fish upon, held on to the pole with ONE arm, reached down with his other arm, untied his shoe lace and passed it up above for them to finish tying the flag. The crowd went CRAZY. One of the most redass things I've ever seen

Since my wife and I retired we have made 39 games in a row.
I was a college football coach then ran a family business in San Antonio
so I did not get to see many Aggie games.
tu will be #40. I have hated them since 1972 (that's another story)
My last game as a player was at tu in '84.
One of my best memories was running thru the bootline after halftime
up 20-0.
We had just beat TCU the week before and had a great week of practice.
Coach Sherrill gave us itineraries with a burnt orange key on it
that said BEAT tu.
That game helped make this program great.
I have the same feeling about this game Friday night.
Beat the hell out of tu!

The 84 game was my first football game. I was four years old.

Awesome!

I was a freshman in 1984 but couldn't go to Austin that year because my grades were bad and my dad said I better be in my dorm room when they called at halftime. I was. :0)

But on campus, we were watching the game in our dorm rooms and everybody was so excited we all ran out and all gravitated over to Cain Hall. People were having an impromptu yell practice, and whooping and hollering. That was a fun time as well.

I did go to the 1986 game in Austin and then several in the 90s in 2000s. I was at the 2010 game (cold as hell) and I will be there this Friday!

We've had season tickets at A&M since the mid 80s so we're almost always at the home games. I haven't made everyone completely consecutively, but most of them, even when living in Houston. Even easier when I moved from Houston to College Station (2006) and then Bryan (2020).

I've also been lucky to go to away games over the years like the 2012 Bama game, was at Notre Dame earlier this year and more. I love traveling with my Aggies.

BTHOtu!
