Since my wife and I retired we have made 39 games in a row.
I was a college football coach then ran a family business in San Antonio
so I did not get to see many Aggie games.
tu will be #40. I have hated them since 1972 (that's another story)
My last game as a player was at tu in '84.
One of my best memories was running thru the bootline after halftime
up 20-0.
We had just beat TCU the week before and had a great week of practice.
Coach Sherrill gave us itineraries with a burnt orange key on it
that said BEAT tu.
That game helped make this program great.
I have the same feeling about this game Friday night.
Beat the hell out of tu!

I was at that game. Thank you and your teammates for making that one of the most memorable experiences in my time as a student at A&M.

Biggest memory of that game was when we blocked the field goal and one of our players (Scott ?) caught it on the fly and rumbled all the way back but tackled short of the goal line by Bill boy Bryant (?). Electric moment. What a win.

Great memories.
As I recall Domingo Bryant blocked the punt that Scott Polk almost returned for a TD.
Thanks for posting.

You gonna get Craig Stump to retire and join you on the road trips?
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough

Awesome post, CS! Glad you and the wife are having a good retirement!!

I remember the game so well, watching from a sports bar in Cozumel. Even though you guys beat TCU the week before, I always thought it was this game that changed Aggie football!!

That game set up a run of greatness by Jackie. What I remember most about the game was the rushing combo of Vick and Toney.

I have a similar picture from 1984 and 1986 to commemorate the great class of 1987 being the first senior class to go undefeated in Austin!

Profile from the Batt about the OP. (I wonder if there's a story about his name on the bus list being misspelled; Stuart instead of Stewart.)

I was a walk-on WR in my 5th year.
We were on bus 3 with trainers and support staff.
Not sure how they misspelled my name but I was happy
To be on the bus.
5-2 Stew was my nickname.

Jeff Nelson graduated from my high school, 3 years ahead of me. I remembered him all the way back to LL baseball; a tremendous all-around athlete, and about your size.

I was thrilled to see him go to A&M; got his autograph on the field after his first game. He wore 88 that year before switching to 8, which fit him way better. That was his first autograph. He thought it was the coolest thing.

Thanks for posting; sparked many great memories.
