Play no non-conference difficult games, go 11-1 worst case and get a bye every year

You think a weaker schedule would help them?

A B12 conference schedule would be more difficult than their current slate. It would also require them to share their media rights. That is not going to happen unless a revenue share from a conference is larger than they can get from NBC on their own or they take money away from other teams to give to ND to compensate. That crazy VC deal the B10 was trying to force down everyone throat makes me think it's somehow possible. The B10 leadership has demonstrated willingness to make some members second class citizens.

I find it humorous the rejects want to go to the reject league.

There is ZERO CHANCE ND even talks to the Big 12, much less joins. Geographically they are a B1G program, but they already play 5 ACC teams per year and the ACC has an odd # of teams. So if ND was to join a conference it would be ACC all the way.

EDIT - Just saw the ND "permanent damage" comment re: ACC, that relationship seems to be fracturing.

But they will stay independent and throw their tantrums. They just had to win ONE of the Miami and aTm games, but they didn't.

F em if they are going to be little babies and not go play in a really good bowl game at 10-2.

There has to be a reason the BIG doesn't try too hard to pull ND in.

It would be a smart move for them.

Guaranteed conference championship every year.

Called that. B1G has massive TV and conference network issues to work around that original members will balk.

Big XII does not have those issues, No program has enough clout to stop it. Actually hilarious if you think about 2010-2014 when Dodds believed HE could get ND into the Big XII. I may die from laughing if ND is reduced to that. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOl!

Imagine how scared to death of the SEC and Big10 that Notre Dame is that they won't even consider those conferences and only consider the two conferences that are predominately entirely 3-star recruits. Lol

I think the B1G told ND their USC game is no longer happening unless they join lol.

They're definitely negotiating a way out of the ACC (for all non football sports), because the conference looked out for themselves lol (and had a better team per h2h).

Honestly the power '4' should just stop scheduling ND. Kill them off. I think next year their best teams are FSU and WI they play, so they have a dog **** schedule lol

If ND played a dog crap schedule this year they would be undefeated and in the CFP this year, probably with a buy 1st round.

You can have an easy schedule or you can make money giving fans what they want (large programs playing each other). Pick one, you can't have both.

Yep. No matter what the committee says about playing better opponents, the 0 in the loss column gets you in no matter how ****ty your schedule was.

But if they joined the big12 I would assume it's just for all sports except football, no?

I assume they'd do the 5 football game deal they had with the acc with the big 12

There is no way ND would join the Big 12, given the current composition of that conference.

B10, ACC or SEC are options. B10 or ACC far most likely, if they ever did join a conference. Big 12 would not be an option. They think they are too good for that conference academically and athletically (lacking blue blood programs)...

Only reason they would talk to the Big 12 is to try to get leverage on another conference.

Agree. It would be a weird move. The B1G makes the most sense. Saying that the NBC tv deal doesn't work for the conference doesn't make sense. New conference add ons aren't getting full pay. ND could join for little to no pay for a few years and be just fine. It would just be a slow merger of tv deals

I didn't realize the ACC Network was running the Miami/Notre Dame game 24/7 last week.

That's funny.

As a Tech fan, I don't want ND in the Big 12.

And I can't imagine them in the Big 10. Y'all remember the tantrums and battles between UT, OU and Nebraska when the Big 12 first formed? That would be kindergarten compared to the egos in the room if ND, tOSU and Meatchicken were to try to sort out a media deal for the B1G.

IDK,

Some of the B1G games are on NBC so I can see a world where ND could still play their home games on NBC with a later afternoon or evening window as to not compete with Big Noon. The sticking point would be the revenue sharing.

Which conference has the weakest grant of rights? Big 12 or ACC??? I could see B1G taking Cal, Stanford, and/or maybe Kansas if a major event like this comes to fruition B1G goes to 19 teams and then takes more 1 school with them to get to 20. They could go 4 pods of 5 schools, especially if 1new school is a west coast school.

This B1G could have already taken Cal and Stanford, and left them out. They are deadweight. Maybe Kansas?

ND to the Big12 actually is not as crazy as it seems; probably a much better fit than the ACC these days for numerous reasons.

hey, that's what happened 100 years ago that led to Notre Dame's national fanbase (and is also why Notre Dame refuses to join the Big 10 - they wanted to join, they started beating Michigan, so Michigan said no, and then got the rest to blackball them - which is why they started playing USC in LA and Army in NY in the era where they had to use trains)

Throwing a BS flag on this one.

On the Big East part. Have little doubt the B1G would take the all sports or nothing stance. ND doesn't have the leverage they used to have back in the day. Now they are the supplicant.

This is just posturing by the ND AD, IMO. Trying to make ND more attractive and playing the B1G's rivalry with the SEC.

BTW, if Notre Dame's AD was trashing the ACC very publicly without talking to the ACC Commish first? Bad form.
