OC and DC both gone in weeks.

We are preparing for the biggest game in recent history, certainly of my 30 years as an Aggie.

Why can't we have ONE good year where everything goes our way??

Oregon lost their OC
Ohio state lost their OC / WR coach
Ole Miss lost their head coach

This year has been one of the years where things have gone our way. Our OC is going to be the HC at his alma mater? Good for him. He's staying here and coaching through the playoffs, so that's great. Bateman leaving? Elko basically demoted him after last season and he's leaving to an inferior program to take a job he didn't do that well here when he had the opportunity.

Aside from that, the mindset we have now is one of a winning team and the <shall not be talked about> bug has missed us for the most part, especially at a key skill position. This has been a great year and Elko seems to know what he's doing.

Alabama has lost coaches in the past and still was highly successful under Saban.
Saban was the leadership guru.

Coach Elko is our Leadership Guru.
He will re-buildout his staff for the 2026 season.

OC Klein will still be calling plays for the CFP playoffs. We are Good.

We had one good year with the number 1 recruiting class in the nation in 2022. We went 5-7.

I know this staff is paying for the sins of MANY previous coaches who have come this way before them.
But
BAS creeps in when you ONCE AGAIN fade late into the season.
Only this year we had Scar and Samford, so it was salvageable.

All season as I pointed out areas of concern I was told to be grateful and stop complaining and enjoy the win. Even the TA radio boys were beating that drum.

But those issues were exposed when we
A) laid down to tu.
Or
B) did as the " pundits" said and lost when we finally played someone decent.

I'd like to think that we DID play tough teams and merely saw burnt orange and crawled into the fetal position surrendering to our arch rival.
Which is exactly how that game went.

And I know those games , like bowl games matter not in the new pay to play it's-all-about-the-money era
But for passionate fans, it still dumps a load of doubt on us.
In fact, as a mental experiment, imagine losing to LSU but beating tu. You would be more confident right now.

That game is doing more than coordinators moving.

Elke is the Defense guru. So the DC leaving does not worry me.
Klein leaving has me looking forward to intelligent play calling in the red zone

Summary
We have faded late (Again) but may actually have more talent back for Miami
New OC and DC to call plays may be just what we need to blow on the embers

They need to change the calendar to stop coaching changes from happening until after the playoffs.

honestly my BAS creepin back in isn't a bad thing i figure. it means we are playing a game of meaning late in the year. when is the last time your BAS crept back in this late in the year? maybe we should embrace it.

Good take! Agree.

I appreciate that our guys came back and won the SC game but to be in that position was a very troubling sign. The fade began right there. It was as if after the long road stretch they relaxed. It came oh so close to getting them.

I heard that 7 of the 12 teams have lost staff members in recent weeks. Most are playing under new circumstances. Adapt and overcome.

Klein is still calling plays as OC
Elko is the effective DC with the actual DC position being more of an advisor, so if Bateman goes early I don't see a huge shakeup as a result.

Miami will still be tough and until we have a strong finish to a season a few years in a row, BAS will be lurking in the shadows as always.

Aggies that have BAS will always have BAS. It's who they are. I doubt therapy could even help them.

It probably is how they react to ALL areas of their life. Not just Aggie sports.

They will state on one day they hate Klein as OC and the next cry he's leaving.

This is clearly Elko's defense. It always will be but Bateman leaving makes Ags with BAS freak out.

I think Klein is a much bigger loss (long & short term) but we're still better off with him calling plays in the playoffs than not.

I don't think the "DC" loss has any impact at all. The guy was essentially demoted after last year and I don't know how much he calls the defense at this point.

Lets be honest Bateman is DC in name only as he lost that title after last seasons bowl game in Vegas. I have been hearing this for a few months that he was leaving and dont be surprised if York goes with him.

And anyone with any sense can recognize that the Ags have blown every major matchup (not an upset) they have played for decades.

They haven't shown they can with the big one.

No. Past history doesn't affect the current team. But, still. As a fan. It sure feels that day when you look at the record

So yeah, it only makes sense to guard against the inevitable disappointment. History as a fan dictates this reasonable response
