It's going to be an interesting process and one I'm sure I'll have even more complaints about than I already do

At first I was kinda pissed that FIFA is going cheap on staffing here, but after thinking about it, I have no doubt that soccer-loving volunteers probably provide better service than a team of event staff carnies. Especially in the US where most people's soccer knowledge floats really close to zero.

Hope you at least get some cool swag from it.

Actually, they've done this for several World Cups not just this one. To be honest, the volunteers need to know zero about soccer. It's more about helping people get around the city.

Look I get it. FIFA should be paying us to work the games because they pull in all sorts of money. But I am really excited about being a part of the World Cup and having people from other countries visit my hometown. The rumor right now is that our official uniform will include

-Hat
-Tshirt
-Polo
-shorts
-Shoes
-unique lanyard and volunteer pin

There also might be a rain jacket/pants combo of some kind. They really don't want us to wear anything that isn't Adidas. As I am working the Fan Fest there is a decent chance I'll be able to snag a lot of the swag that's given away as well. I'm thinking of having some enamel pins made that reference Kansas City but not the world cup to trade with other fans. Maybe some US/State pins as well.

At the end of the day, I think it's going to be a unique experience. (plus I already bought tickets to some local games)

It came without a ton of fanfare, but their "Last-minute" phase started last week. It's first come, first served. No lottery/application.

Only a few games have availability. I'd be tempted by the M93 going for $515 (cat 2)… when my tix for that sold I was sad… but for less cost, I've already pivoted to flying to Chicago to see the USMNT vs. Germany friendly on June 6. Probably sounds dumb but I'd rather see my two favorite teams in a game that doesn't matter than see two random teams play a game that does.

M35 Netherlands v. Sweden in Houston is also available for $600 (cat 1).

And M78 round of 32 in Dallas is available for $405 (cat 2).

What's also interesting about this round is that they show specific sections (but still list by category). Not sure what that means, but it's a different interface. Not surprisingly, the sections for everything I've looked at are among the worst for the particular category they're in.

I'm still curious about what it will look like as we get close to the matches. Most of the resale tickets are still going $1k and well above it. Apparently someone listed a match for over a million dollars.

If those tickets were indeed bought by scalpers, then those numbers might go down as we get close to matches or day of.

Also be interesting to see if other teams start to add the pre-world cup friendlies in the States. Obviously we know about the USA ones, but most teams will play a warm-up match or 2 before the whole thing kicks off. Some of those matches should be in the USA.

Resale has already plummeted from what I've seen. I only looked at the official FIFA resale marketplace though. Their site was down forever but came back up last week.

It seems like they changed the site to show specific sections that actually comprise the categories (instead of being shady AF like they were before and showing all of decks 1 and 2 as Cat 1.) Not surprisingly, center sections aren't available - and availability in general decreases for the higher profile games. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding what they're showing, but they definitely show specific sections within each category now instead of their old huge categories.

I picked a great time to sell mine a couple months ago. I don't want this to devolve, but I suspect a lot of folks around the world may be reconsidering whether they actually want to come given current events - and those folks would likely be selling on the official FIFA platform more than US resale sites they don't know anything about.

There's an Athletic article about this now, and yes, the new footprints on FIFA's resale more accurately reflect what's actually getting assigned for each category.

And not surprisingly, the best seats went to the more expensive hospitality packages (and are probably also reserved for last-minute VIPs).

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7175652/2026/04/08/world-cup-tickets-fans-stadium-seating-map/

The article says people have been getting seat assignments already… has anyone here been assigned seats yet?

I was gonna ask if anyone else had. I've had my seats for the England-Croatia match assigned. Cat 2 tickets and I'm in the far upper tier of AT&T stadium, but at least we are dead center so thats the one positive.

You got lucky getting center! Probably got a top 5% seat for that category.

Also, I think FIFA's resale marketplace is wrong about the bottom end of their price ranges. Whole site is really clunky now… it worked great under the old category system, but now that they have specific seats it really sucks.

But I do think prices will go down, especially now that people can see where the seats actually are.

I agree that the low price number is definitely off. I've been searching for the supposedly low number and there aren't any listed

Yeah me too. There are couple of games I was thinking I'd be willing to drop a couple hundred and sit nosebleed but I can't find them.

I have 2 tickets to the opening US Men's game in LA I am trying to sell. These were part of a "Follow-my-team" package that includes access 3 hours before game and after to the FIFA pavilion. I am looking for $3,358 per ticket ($6,716 total), which is what I paid based on the invoice excerpt below. I also posted in the Ticket Exchange forum, but posting here too. Send me a PM if interested, would like to sell to an Aggie.

edited price to what I actually paid since I finally received a per game cost allocation

Argentina warmup at Kyle Field. Maybe those tickets will be somewhat affordable.

The FIFA site is horrible and trying to find deals is like looking for Easter eggs in each section.

I really enjoy the nosebleed listings at $3-4k (round of 16 match in Houston) while there are fantastic 100 section seats available for $1-$2k.

I assume that a lot of sellers are set on going and that is their "pay me not to go" price.

Could be. But they also might not have updated yet after seats got assigned last week… so it's their old "buy me out" price for a generic Cat 2 ticket.

And yeah, their site was perfectly fine for the old category system but it's atrocious now.

For a ton of reasons, I'm glad I sold mine when I did.

I think all the previous listings were wiped clean so these are all new listings that have been posted since April 2nd after ticket locations were revealed.

Ok wow. Good luck to them then.

I suspect prices will keep going down. I'd definitely like to buy back in if they do. But I'll probably do it on Stubhub where I know how to find the cheapest.

So evidently, FIFA just released more tickets as "Front Category 1" which is comprised of some of the best seats that should have been Cat 1 under the old diagrams. Super scummy IMO.

But I suppose it's a new opportunity to get tickets below scalper prices if someone really wants to go. I'm in the queue just to see and report back… I've heard rumors that they're going for basically double the old Cat 1 prices.

Edit to add: ok I think this is was just clickbait journalism I fell into. Or maybe there's already been a big run on them. There are a tiny handful of seats available but they aren't super premium, nor are they going for double. Example, there's literally just 5 1st deck corner seats for England Croatia going for $775 (and split in two sections, so 2 in one, 3 in the other). This looks like stuff that fell through the cracks somehow.

2nd edit: nevermind… stuff is flying off the shelf as I poke around. Those tickets I just mentioned are already gone. Who knows what was there before but it's getting gobbled up quickly.

Oh here we go. Dallas World Cup committee must have some beef over not getting the final if they are putting this information out there. Basically admitting that FIFA is creating scarcity by not releasing all the tickets because when you get on the website, the matches will say nothing available for several of them unless you go into resale.

https://www.dallasnews.com/business/article/ticket-sales-going-world-cup-matches-d-fw-22202634.php

The committee said that 60-70% of the tickets have been sold for the group stages, 55% for the knockout rounds and 31% for the semi-final.

They said 26-35% have been purchased by international fans, 50% by US fans outside of the area and 20-25% by DFW locals
