I mean, one of the best clubs in Europe is paying $40 million to get him. It's a safe bet to say he plays well for that to be the case.

I didn't say he was not playing well for his club either. And clubs overpay for players frequently.


When Johnny plays for the USMNT he looks like he's the HS QB trying to play with the soccer team because they had a rash of injuries. His spacing with LDLT is terrible and he can't make a single crisp pass.

It's a safe bet to say he doesn't look like that when he plays in Europe.

I'm not sure how much is our team and how much is the modern game... there are way too many players who's first instinct is to play backwards or play laterally. You see them never even check their shoulder or consider turning and playing progressively

Just saw it from Tillman playing it backwards first time as Arfsten was making a dangerous run and looked to be in if Tillman played the 1-2.

I'm a novice when it comes to soccer systems and strategies, but my son and I are watching and the fact we are so content to just drift into our own corner little by little is frustrating. There just are not creative attempts to move the ball forward.

ETA:

Seems like it takes Sullivan(?) #7 coming all the way back to bail them out of their own complacency.

Ream is done. He's barely playing for Charlotte.

He's a good guy to have on the roster though.

Jihaji Wright sucks.
Sullivan isn't on the top level.
Freeman is raw, but he has some potential. Not ready for this level, but keep an eye on him.
Aggiemang looks slow.
Adams made zero impact on this game.
Turkey must have been playing their B team as well.

Unsure if I will watch Tuesday. This was pretty bad to watch.

The second goal was Johnny being one of the worst people to ever play soccer for the USMNT. Terrible touch inside his own box then just tried to get rid of it and blasted it off a Turkey player knee and it went in to the net. But that ended a long stretch where Turkey dominated play and deserved to have 2 goals.

Turkey played a lot of their best players. Number 10 is owned by Real Madrid. Akturkoglu is their number 1 striker I'm pretty sure. They played both top CBs. Yilmaz got in the game and should have scored.

Let's not kid ourselves, we're all watching on Tuesday no matter who is playing lol.
