Quarter today between France and Germany was amazing.
Germany went down to 10 only 13 minutes in, and gave up a PK in the process. They found a tying goal and held on for dear life for the last 90 or so minutes. The effort they put in was truly remarkable, along with a tremendous save to keep them in it. Germany actually had a PK in the second half but couldn't convert. Even in the shootout it went to 7 before Germany pulled it out. I would encourage anyone who is a soccer geek to back and watch it., Really one of the best matches I've watched in recent years.

Was probably the most intense women's match I watched in a while. France had 2 goals called back due to offside and one of their subs rang her crossbar before PK's.

I've been catching games when I can and the entire tournament has been a blast, some of the most entertaining soccer I've watched in a while. France totally deserved to win that match but that's not how the ball bounces sometimes.

Semis are today (England v Italy) and tomorrow (Germany v Spain) at 2pm CST.

Is the Italian Women's team defensive-minded like the Men's? If so, I suspect today's match will be a snoozer. Tomorrow's match, on the other hand, I expect to be very exciting. Two very technical teams with Spain always looking to push the ball in attack.

It was pretty end to end in their win over Norway, not sure how much that was influenced by how Norway played though.

Missed the first half of this one but putting it on now.

Oof, that seemed harsh but never got a really good look on the replay. England through to the final barring something exceptional here in the last couple minutes.

Probably but Italy had done that a few times, don't wrap arms around a player in the box. Eventually it's going to get called. The ref had a clear view from like 5 yards away.

It was. I was afraid we were headed for another PK finish so I was happy it was settled during run of play. Good match.

Personal opinion, I think Spain runs all over England. The three best teams have been Spain, Germany and France. Don't think England have the juice to finish it.

Yeah, I was surprised to see England in the final. I think Spain has too much on-ball skill for England, so I agree with your prediction.

England advanced past Italy just bc of a horrible call rewarding a PK late to help tie the match. Both announcers stated right away it was a horrible foul call.

This was way better than their first shootout. Honestly only the retake was a bad penalty and I am not sure what angles VAR had to force a retake since there was no evidence on the regular replay that I saw of a double touch.

Before the PK shootout, all players converted 24 of 42 PKs in the tournament.

They all suck at PKs. Basically, they just hope the goalkeeper guesses the wrong way.

Even after the shootout the conversion rate was 50%. That definitely is bad

I've been stunned at the lack of confidence shown by so many of these players when taking PKs. These are the best women soccer players in the world. It's fascinating that the moment became too big for several of them, including Bonmati and Caldentey.

Hats off to Chloe Kelly. That woman has confidence! She hammers her PKs. Cata Coll had no chance on that last one. THAT's how to take a PK.
