Goal Jernigan on a rebound of a blocked shot by a defender. I wish I could tell you which Aggie beat a Rice defender to set up the positive situation but I don't know who it was.

Woo Hoooo !!! I have mentioned several times the past couple of years that she was a goal-scoring machine in HS but has just not happened in Aggieland. Hope it changes!

Not a problem! Heck, having any on-site reporting at all is a huge bonus and we appreciate it very much !!!!

Don't want to overreact to a preseason scrimmage, especially when I am not sure how good Rice is this year (although I did see they were picked to finish 2nd in their conference for whatever that's worth). That said, just a few observations:

Defense looked organized and connected. The senior (Yakel) and freshman (Crooks) combo in the middle worked well together, and our left back (Patterson) is dangerous going forward.

4 goals is impressive considering our lack of offense last season and again in the spring. Seems like we have several dangerous options offensively, with plenty of speed. Diaz, Noble, Hutchins, Jernigan, etc. Lots of speed to hopefully create opportunities. Also nice to see 2 freshmen (Cate and Storer) contribute offensively too, connecting on a goal.

Midfield seems committed to defense, which is critical with a new backline.

Goalies didn't get tested really. Not sure I remember a real save necessary.

We did have those two girls out. Lavender is a knee but not an acl so I think still hopeful to be back this season...I thought she looked good in the spring, so would be nice to get her back. Not sure what's wrong with Hoang, but hoping it isn't significant.

Would be hard to ask for more in the first scrimmage of the year!

well they didn't broadcast the game, so i'm sure most of the video is not from professional camera. These are all handheld stuff most likely students learning to run the equipment

Exhibition matches are not on telly at all so no streaming. No radio, no live stats, no nothing. But note that some short videos of the goals are posted by Aggie soccer or individuals, as above.

HOWEVER, luckily, some people make update posts from the match here on TexAgs - thanks, guys !!
