Regarding the transfers:
1). Shea O'Rorke scored 2 goals in TN's victory over UNC
2). Leb, Olinsky and Cornog all played meaningful minutes in TCU victory over Pepperdine
3). Matula and Armenia start for Vandy who is a favorite to win the SEC. Armenta scored a goal this evening
4). Calzada is starting at left back for Notre Dame but was injured for today's match
We may discover that last year's team was actually loaded with talent.
This is the main point. And it's not that we "may" discover those players were talented, across the roster, it's that we have eyes and we know they were.
Some on this board get very angry when we use our eyes and think for ourselves. I'm not going to just sit back and take at face value coaches saying those players who left were no good. That's false. They're very good players. They've proved it before and they proved it again yesterday, for teams that are better than the Ags and against teams that are better than the Ags.
Now, will the new crop turn out to be good, too? I sure hope so. But they absolutely did not live up to the hype that they're super fit and are going to overwhelm opponents with waves of talent and fitness. They faded badly in the second half last night, at home, in front of a good crowd, against a meh team. The defender that coaches said they brought in because she was allegedly the best defender in the transfer portal got owned by the Baylor player who wanted that ball more. That was the reason for the goal--lack of desire to hold off that defender and clear a ball from your own six. My eyes tell me what's true--not pre-game hype. I hope they get better going forward.
