What a win. I was worried they get the late score but we flipped the script. I,thought it,was well officiated for,the most part, it didn't get into street brawl and I think that helped us.

Soccer tournament in town, so the kids came to the game.
Great win for the girls and nice turn around from the beating at UCONN last season. Buchanan was solid again, but so were plenty of the girls. Our defense has given up what, 3 goals on the season and 2 of those were free kicks (1 that was clearly Just goalie misjudged it)? Completely new backline that includes a freshman. And Taylor making an impact on the game makes a world of difference for us. Well done, ladies.

Kennedy Clark was injured in the second half and after the game was driven on the cart to the locker room. Hayden Wilson had a splint on her left elbow. Savannah Hutchins had a wrap on her left shoulder and only played 39 minutes.
On the first goal Jernigan ran hard to the end line to get to the ball and then waited for her teammates to get into the box before passing it. She also showed great hustle to score her goal and that was set up by the great steal by Storer.
I guess Fuller thought the free kick would come in at the top of the box. I remember Kendall Ritchie scoring from the same area of the field against Florida when she saw the keeper moved out from the goal just like the UCONN player did last night.

Good to see the girls get a much needed win. Great hustle by Jernigan to get the winning goal. She should be starting and getting more minutes. A&M needs to win out these games before getting to the TCU game and SEC schedule to still be in the mix for the SEC tournament. From what I've seen so far this direct style of soccer is not going to translate well against the better teams on our schedule.
Fuller needs to work on depth perception…
It was 0-6 last year in a game that had us starting plyers Armenta, McDonald, Bacerra, Pounds, Pante, Calzada, Matula x2, Wilkinson, etc. Great to see this team get a little revenge for that whipping last year. Enjoy the win girls as you deserved it for sure!

Not to be nitpicky, but we have scored 5. We've only allowed 3, so maybe good defense?
Goalkeeper had a rough night. Had trouble holding onto the ball on several other shots and then the big mistake on the free kick. But the team played very well and I look for them to continue to improve as competition also toughens. Impressive performance given all the player turnover and drama in the past two years.

UConn goal made early top 10 on ESPN this morning (early show)...not a good look.
Glad we won, will root for the ladies, but program has gone backwards and so ready for a new coaching regime (past due). Team will struggle to win anything in the SEC this year as just lacking the players, depth and coaching. But hey, it is what it is and hopefully they prove me wrong!!

Proofreading before posting would've helped! Yeah, I meant 3 ga. I'd say it's quality of opponent as opposed to good defense. The cb's are going to be exploited against better opponents. At least the structure has been somewhat adjusted since the spring. The lines are still too far apart and easy to break.
At least Diaz and Buchanan are bright spots. Buchanan's profile would've been a fun complement to Becerra and Ivey as an attacking mid.

While I agree that the opponent is going to get much tougher in the sec, I am curious what you have seen in the defense so far that makes you say they are bad. Aside from the one Baylor goal and 2 free kick goals (that weren't really the defenders fault), they seem pretty solid so far. 11 total shots on goal in 4 games. #10 for UConn was 3rd team all American the last two years and a MAC Herman semifinalist last year, and she didn't even get a shot off yesterday. Again, I'm not saying you are wrong, but I guess I just haven't seen what you have seen so far.

If you don't play kick and run soccer and focus more on possession, fitness is not the foundation of your game. Good possession soccer should be your foundation. Play smarter not harder when it's not necessary.
Our new strength and conditioning coach has had a lot put on him, but we want to be able to run opponents to death. With A&M's style of soccer you're not only running your opponents, but you're also running your own players into the ground. With this style of soccer you better have a really deep bench with no drop off (Arkansas).

Fitness and ability to possess the ball are not mutually exclusive.
I don't know a college coach in any sport at A&M or elsewhere who wouldn't state that fitness and strength & conditioning isn't a foundation of what they are doing in their program and also for across their entire sport.
