Couldn't find it till now, but this was a hell of a defensive sequence from the 1st quarter. Harper and Bryant both just getting after it.
I like Minix. He's not a stiff in the boards.
Harper looked very solid in his debut. Showed his ability to get in the paint, finish at the rim, and that extra sense for drawing fouls. The jumper was a little shaky, but he shoots it with confidence and was 6-7 from the FT line. I was impressed with his defense. He was overshadowed on that end by Carter Bryant, but Harper made several really good plays on that end and even spent a couple possessions guarding Cooper Flagg. I'm gonna bet we get to see Harper for maybe 1 or 2 more games and they'll shut him down like they did with Wemby.
Flagg looked like the real deal today. Maybe Nico will think he's fat here in a couple years and we can add him to our group.

Our bench can potentially be scary this year. Harper is good enough to lead it right now. Really impressed.

I think Harper's defense will be better than advertised just because he won't have to carry 11 bums like he did at Buttgers.
Plus with Castle, Sochan or Carter on POA, Harper still has the positional size for the SG/SF at 6'6 210.

Flagg was able to do whatever he wanted against literally anyone else.

It is when I'm thinking 04-05 Pistons defensive team lol.
Getting beat off the dribble so that you're standing behind your man is not funneling. If he was on his hip I'd agree with you. If the ball handler wanted to, he could've sealed CB completely out of that play, but he didn't and let him back in. Like I said though, fantastic recovery to essentially switch off to the dunker

Makes us bigger and better defensively. We already have 3 20 pt scores in starting lineup. Everyone can't shoot on same possession.

Sochan is slightly better offensively and offers the same defense capabilities. He would get the nod before CB. From very early games, neither of them are able to stretch the floor offensively but Sochan is better in the paint

Love what we've seen from CB but he's still really raw and at this point in his career. He's going to be a major liability on offense and he still hasn't played a game against nba players. No way he is a starter this year, as talented as he appears to be on defense.
I think he's going to spend time in Austin. If he is able to crack the Spurs rotation with consistent bench minutes, I think that is best case scenario honestly.
The other thing to consider is that the Spurs want to be competitive this year. I think Harper is ready to contribute off the bench on a competitive team. Bryant is not.

I think we are going to see a lot of tinkering with lineups this season. Wemby and Fox are only the sure fire starters right now imo.

I doubt we'll have any starting 5 combos get more than 20-30 starts. It's gonna be fun watching this team evolve over the season.
Obviously I know it's early, but I wonder at what point over the next three seasons Harper is going to pass Fox as the better PG. Yes, he can play off ball but he is most valuable with the ball in his hands. I think the coaches are going to have to make that decision sooner than we think. I know it's a hot take, but I see Fox best suited as a super 6th man eventually.

I say 2 years. But I don't see fox taking a role off the bench. He will be traded if Harper reaches his potential.
I think we keep Fox and Harper for 3 years. Then Castle's extension kicks in. Fox will be 30 and have 2y left, which is ideal trade value for him. Get some picks and some young, cheap role players..

This is what I think as well. They will have lots of flexibility. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. There lots of possibilities.
Reed Sheppard seems like a whiner. They had him mic'd up for the SL game and most of it was him complaining to the refs.
