As long as we are healthy, I think we are locks to be in the 4-10 area, and should be 4-7

We were definitely going to be close to 10 last year before Wemby went down and have made huge improvements to the lineup especially the bench unit. Just having a competent backup to Wemby where we aren't bleeding out when he goes to the bench will be huge.


Besides injuries it is going to be "how long does it take to find the right combos" that will dictate where we finish. Spacing is still going to be a big problem too.

Yeah, we were 19-19 nearly halfway through the season without healthy Devin, rookie Castle and before Fox.

We have two >40% shooters in Barnes and Olynyk, two above average shooters in Devin and Julian Plus massive upgrades in scoring and playmaking in Fox and Harper.

Our biggest problem was defense with Wemby out and we now have Kornet and Barnes instead of Collins and Mamu.

We are insanely upgraded.

The "as long as we stay healthy" is the kicker. Maybe the team has been extremely conservative with injuries bc losing was a positive outcome lately, but we have a ton of guys that haven't been able to finish a season.

Harper and Castle is why we were so conservative. Who knows if Wemby would have come back from his DVT, but Dame did after a few weeks.

Fox wouldn't have had surgery if we were playing for the playoffs, but getting Castle in the reps and Hair was more than worth it.

I think we tend to be more conservative than most, but I think we clearly make the playoff push this year.

It's pretty amazing how active the Spurs have been in the last 5 months and the roster transformation that took place. The only thing missing is shooting but I think we can get better organically. Olynyk addresses it somewhat as a stretch.

Agreed, it'll be a disappointing season if we're not at least a play in team this year.

I do think we've maybe got the pieces for the 2 or 3 seed if either Castle, Sochan or Harper is ready to be star number 3.

It's not hyperbole. We don't have one player who could shoot this consistently (7 consecutive games?) in the summer league on our Varsity team. He can be Gary Neal 2.0 with more game.

No, but it was a good sign that he played better in the 2nd half and even got the game tying bucket to send it to OT.
The whole team looked like they had enjoyed Vegas too much between games. Came out slow, lethargic and no energy. But in the end, they did enough to get the win.

It may be him that's waiting. Even if the Spurs sign him, he's not getting many minutes.
He may be waiting to see if another team gives him a better deal. Summer league contracts are non-binding so he is free to talk to any team.
