Best lineup: CP3, Devin, Sochan, Barnes, Wemby.

Lends more data to support my opinion that we should start Fox, Devin, Jeremy, Barnes, Wemby.

Fox-Castle-Vassell-Barnes-Wemby is my favorite lineup from the players we have. I'm picturing lots of steals/turnovers turning into Fox/Castle/Vassell fast breaks.

I like that a lot as well, but the lack of size hurts, especially rebounding. Maybe swap Olynyk and Barnes and you solve a little bit of it.

Can't wait to see the long term solution at PF.

Agree 100% with the size, but if I have to pick just one lineup, this is the one I want to see get minutes. Wemby can paper over a little bit of the rebounding issue by himself. If Olynyk winds up finding some health and can knock down threes? Yikes for the two dudes on the other team tasked with figuring out two shooting big men.

I'm daydreaming of Barnes and Wemby setting screens for three guards who won't stop moving. If Castle/Vassell scare 38-40% on threes with decent volume, Barnes should get plenty of open threes and Wemby can move between the paint and 3-point line (or better yet, everyone stay out of the paint and tell Wemby to go be a 7'4" guy under the basket)

Personally, I would rather see that lineup with Sochan instead of Barnes. Much better defense and rebounding.

Can't punt on shooting. Castle+Sochan on the court at the same time is going to have teams just collapse on Wemby/Fox.

I'm in a minority, but I've cooled a lot on Sochan. I like the idea of a Draymond type, defense first, passing, just being involved in everything, but that's a big ask and Sochan isn't that.

I see Sochan as the "hey bro, we can't get any stops, go out there and **** things up for the other team" type player, which is still valuable, but we have Wemby already and I think scoring points is the bigger concern.

Since things are slow right now. Here's a throwback to a player that was on the Spurs last year in the ABA and their first year in the NBA.

This is agood conversation starter. Can't argue with 1-5 but after that, I thinknthere are definitely conversations to be had.
I'm only going to speak about the west because I haven't really paid as much attention to the East.
After OKC, Houston and Denver, every team has questions and concerns. Minn played in the conference finals but made no real changes. They really faded in the finals. Clippers have Hall of Famers but are they over the hill? Lakers have Luka and LeBron but can they stop anybody? Mavericks won't have Kyrie for half the season and who knows how he will come back from the injury. Memphis has a new coach and some changes but are they for the better? Warriors have less depth on an aging team.

If the Spurs development continues in the right direction and they stay healthy, they could be the team that rises to the top of that second tier. I really think Victor is going to break out and be in the MVP conversation. I don't think they are ready to compete a championship but definitely a playoff spot and possible home court in the first round.

I think we might start a little slow because it is tradition at this point. Spend a lot of time rotating players and lineups and getting Harper some solid minutes with Vic and Steph.

But by the end of the year, we will be pushing on top 10. If healthy, I think the only teams that are really clearly ahead of us are OKC, HOU, Nuggets, Knicks, and Cavs. I think Orlando will move up. I don't trust the Lakers, Warriors, Hawks, Mavs or Clippers but if healthy, all those teams are dangerous.

I think we will be better than Detroit, Milwaukee, Memphis. and Minnesota.

Saw on Reddit:

Carter Bryant getting up for a block. Seems like a 6'8 forward with 7' wingspan and 40" vertical is a good thing to have defensively.

I agree with the Top 5 you have there. Every team after that has questions of some kind.

I predict it's going to be an exciting year for the Spurs fans.

It seems like every bit of analysis of every team hinges on shooting and floor spacing. Yet we just had a team win the finals while shooting horribly throughout the playoffs. There truly are more ways to win.

Quote:

As for the Kings, which last spoke with the Warriors earlier this week, team sources say they've offered a three-year, $63 million deal for Kuminga in a proposal that would send veteran guard Malik Monk and their 2030 first-round pick (lottery protected) to the Warriors. If that pick didn't convey, then the Warriors would get the least favorable of the Kings or San Antonio's first-round pick in 2031.

Kings are such a trash organization. We need more of their picks.
