Cooperstown starts today. We will be there next week.

Anyone else making this trip this summer?

Checked in today. I'm currently sleeping in a bunk room with eleven 12 yr old boys. Prayers appreciatedโ€ฆ.

On another note, a team last week got booted for having a 14 yr old using his little brother's Birth Certificate. How do you spend that much money to come here and cheat?!?
Which team was it?

How big of a degenerate POS are you to cheat at a 12U baseball tournament?

Gotta brag on the oldest for a second.

He got invited and selected for couple pretty prestigious, invite-only things this summer. First, he made the USA Baseball South Region squad which will goes to Cary, NC next month were about 250 kids from around the country will compete at the USA Baseball facilities for a final cut-down to make the Team USA 15U national team/development program.

And this week he was invited to take part in the New Balance Future Stars Series Underclass Combine. They don't throw the pitchers a ton but he threw 2 innings yesterday, 0 R, 1 infield hit, 1 BB, and 3 Ks. He's #6 in gray getting high fives after ending an inning at about the 1:22 mark of the video. Wish they'd have put in some clips of him actually throwing but whatever. He was up to 85 yesterday which is a new PR and he turns 15 next week (he's also close to 6'2" 210# now and still growing). Walked in his only plate appearance.

Having our first real offseason and its wild how much movement there is between teams. Not only that so many org changes too. Is it normal to have to replace a big chunk of your team?

Unfortunately yes.

Parents want more PT for their kid, playing a different position, etc. and maybe they have a conversation with the coach(es) but most likely not. Or that conversation didn't go the way they wanted. Team might not be winning enough for some parents who are focused on those $4 rings. Parents might be fed up with other parents. And not infrequently, a coach will find they're able to upgrade the roster with new kids.

Haven't been on this thread in a while, but we are in Indiana for softball nationals, and it has been a great week. Seen a lot of Ford and other Aggie coaches out here. We made the top tier championship bracket so we are playing the elite of the elite right now and the next loss we have will my daughter's last travel game ever. It's been a crazy (and expensive) ride, but I wouldn't trade it for anything and am so grateful to have had the softball bond with my girl over all these years. She will be moving on to play D1 softball, but I know it will never be the same as we've had it all these years. Cherish these times with your kids and dont sweat the small stuff!!

Welp, it's that time again. Son has outgrown his old bat, and needs a new one. Given that he's just turned 10, I'm not really looking to spend 3 or 4 hundred bucks on a bat. What do y'all recommend in that sweet spot of balancing performance and price?

I'm out of town until the 11th but depending on where you live and the size you need I've got a 30" -10 Louisville Slugger Meta that my younger son used for BP and 1 tournament this past spring I'd sell for $100. He was 10U and now 11U so he's moved to a -8.

It's practically brand new because he got it for Christmas but joined a Marucci team and they require players to swing a Marucci bat. Thankfully he was able to just borrow a bat for the season from the coach.

I live in Georgetown. Not sure how easy those are to ship, but I would pay for the shipping, too

Unless you're kid is big, that bat seems a little big. I'd think most 10-yr olds are swinging a 28 or 29. If that's the blue Meta they're a little end loaded too. Play it Again in north Austin has a bunch of CatX or Cat 9s as low as 50 bucks. Maybe try Sideline Swap or Facebook marketplace too.

If you want a new bat that's reasonably priced, you could try JustBats. They have CatX or Victus Pencil/Crayons for under 200.
