I want to believe the return of Yordan will be a positive in the team's play but I also thought that would be the case, too, with Correa's return.

Y'all may have already discussed this but I just caught a short video of a couple of "experts" saying that Framber has lost all confidence in Diaz.
Saying Framber Diaz cannot be depended upon is a good backstock behind the plate.
To me, it's on both of them. But I'm a neophyte on baseball.

Maybe we can be like the Guardians who went 11-2 after losing 10 in a row. Obviously I don't want us to go on a 10 game losing streak but then again if it meant we would go 11-2 afterwards I just might take it.
It's definitely both of them but If that is true then Caratini needs to catch Framber. There's not enough time to build that trust back up at this point in the season.

Yep, wife and I were watching the game at the time and I yelled out "Where the hell is Framber? Isn't he responsible for covering that?"
I think Diaz has a hard time picking up the ball from Framber. Or he's lazy. He had another wild pitch yesterday where he didn't even get off his knee and just reached for a ball. When that ball was just out of reach. Very similar to one his last start in which I got in an argument with a few posters here over.
One of the wild pitches was squarely on Framber. Ball bounced in the batters box.

They can't block or throw out runners as effectively.

Allegedly OKD is supposed to be better for framing pitches but I'm not convinced of that. And, I think any perceived benefit is lost by the decreased ability to block pitches and throw out runners.

Wouldn't surprise me if Framber was occasionally going rogue and throwing the pitches he wants instead of whatever Diaz was calling, causing Diaz to have a harder time catching him. The pitch clock doesn't leave a lot of time for a pitcher to shake off multiple calls from the catcher.
Not going to say it's not possible. But, IMO, doesn't necessarily look like Diaz is getting crossed up. Just that he's not tracking the ball sometimes.

Well missing breaking pitches low and outside as a catcher would track with what we see him doing as a hitter. So it is certainly possible.

If it helps on preventing WPs and passed balls great.
It should certainly help on framing, where Yainer is 46th out of 55 catchers (Caratini is 40th).

Yainer really needs to have a good bat, because he's not great at a lot of what the position entails defensively.
He's 59th out of 66 in caught stealing above average, and has the 2nd slowest exchange time out of 66 catchers.
