Relief pitching aside I hope to see the offense untracked for more than 7 singles and 1-8 in RISP tonight.

2 earned runs isn't going to get a lot of Ws.
It is when team ERA is 1.00

Let's not pretend Abreu and Hader didn't play with fire. Both loaded the bases.

Ump Grade based on looking at Savant Page:

Mets (-7)
  • 8 pitches in the zone called balls
  • 1 pitch outside the zone called strikes

Astros (-7)
  • 7 pitches in the zone called balls
  • 0 pitches outsides the zone called strikes

Overall, it evens out in raw balls and strikes. Definitely a hitters' zone.

I would LOVE to go to a game in Japan just to experience the crowd in person.
Slightly off topic, but in the same line of thought.... I went to a game in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela one time. The "Tiburones" vs. "Caribes". What an experience. "Band" playing on trash cans and fans yelling constantly all game.

I wish iphones with better photo/video recording quality had been out at that time (had a work blackberry, crappy photos filed away somewhere). Great experience, lots of fun.
That's where Altuve came up with the idea!

If I was a young single AAAA type player, I wouldn't hesitate to go play in Japan. Because of the, uh, fans.

I'm probably in the minority but I really enjoy the AppleTV broadcasts. They were rough at the beginning but have really improved.

I hate it for one reason..... I pay for space city network.... the damn games should be there or a national broadcast. I'm ****in tired of subscription cost. Especially to an inferior product like Apple
I agree with the subscription cost aspect -- it's very annoying.

However, I disagree with the bolded in terms of the game itself. Apple products themselves may not be the best, but the Apple TV games are easily the best quality picture currently and the option to watch is synced with the radio team is fantastic.

If there was anything we learned during the play and WS runs on this thread is that the "fans" were pretty smokin hot for baseball

So, what you're saying is that the Tetas are sag-gy and late to the game, essentially?

Streaming Folks:

Got a question for those of you who use streaming to watch Astros and other sports. My sister-in-law is an OT with the VA (out of state) and has an elderly client on hospice whose end of life goals is to watch sports on TV. She has access to internet and a smart TV, but has no paid subscriptions. She had cable and couldn't afford it, so it was disconnected. She lives alone and just stares at the TV (sounds like she has something called U TV that is free but has no sports).

So...can you recommend any streaming or subscription services that my SIL can download for her and either pay for or try to get it covered somehow? Cheaper the better, but access to sports is the key. She probably doesn't have a lot of time left, but really wants to watch sports in that time. She is in Utah if that makes any difference with services.

Looks like there is a 7 day free trial, then it's $9.99/month.

I'm going to sign up for it today and cancel it tomorrow

I've gone what a good friend of mine used to call NLN - Next Level Nerd - and added a second slide to the Astros Bingo sheet that shows the progress of most of the categories. I aim to update after every game.

That wasn't specified to me, so I'd guess any sport.

ESPN+ would be the cheapest I think. Less than $15/month. Not the best variety currently. Mainly Euro Soccer, College Baseball, NHL, Tennis & Golf.

Fubo or YTTV are basically cable replacements that'll have the sports channels, but monthly cost would be ~90ish. Probably get a deal for the first month and then cancel afterwards.

The problem is sports are the biggest driver for streaming and tv deals, so there aren't really any bargain options. Wangus12 is correct that ESPN+ would be the cheapest - and there's always something on, but lots of goofy non mainstream stuff.

She could do the MLB package which would be good because there's a million games and she should be able to watch something at any given time from now until October. Plus access to MLB Network which shows nonstop highlights and all things baseball. Looks like a one time purchase of $150.

Not sure one that you can get covered by any programs or anything like that. I am sure some of us on here would be more than willing to pitch in to cover the cost of cable for a veteran in hospice.

We only need a couple, who is in with me?

In addition to ESPN+ above:

- MLB TV is free for the year if you are a T-Mobile subscriber.
- Sling has two packages (Orange, Blue) depending on what she likes that are $45 a month, currently 1/2 off for 3 months. I think Orange is the cheapest way to get proper ESPN channels (they aren't included with ESPN+)

if anyone has T Mobile, have them redeem the free MLB offer in the T Life app and log in on that persons TV.

Looks like we could do 3 months for $99.99

I need to check as well since I've had directv for a long time. The Astros are the only reason I haven't cut the cord yet but I might need to look into directv streaming if it also carries the Astros here in the DFW area.

Funny story… my ex girlfriend's dad gave me his DirecTV log-in about 8 years ago. It still works.

I had Directv satellite for about 15 years. Finally decided to cut it last December after the price kept rising. Originally switched to Youtube TV, but replaced it with Fubo this week so I could watch the Stros. Streaming is roughly half the cost of what I was paying before with satellite.

I considered going back to Directv stream, but they've been pissing me off by spamming my inbox. When I called to cancel, they said "OK" and didn't do anything to try and keep me. Since then, I get multiple emails every day giving me huge incentives to come back, but only if I sign a long-term contract.

The beauty of streaming is most, if not all, are month to month and can be canceled anytime.

Ive had directv since I graduated college and i call about 3 times a year to make sure im continuing to get the best rate...needless to say ill never leave them.

Last time I called the lady said she had never seen so many past and active discounts on a single account. I said thank you. I currently have a mid tier package that include everything I could need and HBO and pay like $90 a month best part is directv customers gets the streaming included so I have anything and everything on every tv and device I own

I have xfinity and love it. I hated direct tv when I had it but mainly just because I was fresh out of college and didn't know anything about getting the best deals
