1st outing: 1 IP, 0 H, 0K, 3 BB, somehow no R

2nd outing: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 K, 0 BB

3rd (today): 1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 K, 1 BB, 1 HR but gets the save

Not a great start. I do hope he gets it together but Father Time remains undefeated. Well that and I think he has a bit of a mental hump to get over now as well.

Hader doesn't exactly make it boring either

Who do y'all think will step up and become our 2-3 primary bullpen arms behind Abreu and Hader? King and Okert have looked good early but will be interesting to see if they can be consistent.

Also on the offensive side, even though we didn't score much this series and we still look like we've never seen a slider in our lives, we got guys on base and created scoring opportunities (for example the 8th inning today) where we just didn't capitalize. Would've liked to see our offseason pick ups perform better but time will tell with them. If our starting rotation can continue like this then we can be a 90 win team imo. Just my reactions after 3 games.

Usually pitchers dominate early in the season and hitters take time to get their timing down. I'm not really concerned with the Astros offense after only three games. Walker and Paredes will start clicking soon and Altuve, Alvarez, and Yainer will be who they are. Looking for a big year from Peña and a rebound from Chas.

No doubt we didn't capitalize, but 1-17 with RISP over three games suggests we were poor at creating scoring opportunities too. Less than 6 ABs per game.

I hate off days but I hate Sunday off days even more.

It's my work on the yard day and I always time it to where I listen to the game on the radio.

Well it wasn't the 11-2 blowout I predicted, but the whole family moved our all-time record to 2-0 and I extended my impressive Astro win in person win streak to 9 straight across 3 years and 2 cities last night. Ironically, I went to 2 games in 2022 and the team lost both, including one to the A's, but I've seen them do nothing but win now.

We sat in 105 , the last section before you got to the Crawfords, where I annoyed my wife by doing Jose Altuve's inner monologue every time there was a play at 2B "I would have made that tag better." "I miss talking to Pena", "I don't know anybody out here" while also watching him chew his finger nails at close range for 8 innings.

I haven't read the game thread but taking him out in a 1 run game for a defensive replacement is not a strategy I will be on board with. Although I can understand it after watching him try to scale the wall on Soto's double 50 feet over his head.

Other than the amazing pitching - which rankled 3 Mets' fans in their 20s behind us to no end - by biggest gold star of the game is definitely for Chazzy Fizz, looking fantastic at the plate with a walk and a single

I also had to stop outside the park and praise a lady my age (ancient) who was repping an old-school Mets' Gregg Jeffries jersey.

Also did they show that someone dropped a huge thing of nachos onto the warning track in CF last night during the 8th inning? Was hoping one of the Mets would fall on the cheese.

All but like 2 of my picks were basically season long accomplishments.

I'm going to be a 1 free point all season and then come from behind sprinting like Usain Bolt at a junior high school track meet.

Yeah not playing on opening week Sunday is pretty stupid.

First overall impressions after the opening series

Pitching is gonna be just fine and better than most projected. The BP make me a little worried but I can see how it's setting up and it's promising.

I'm not worried about the offense. I love the approach so far. Walker will be fine. He's absolutely blistering the ball. Josie and Yordan are right there. Good to see Pena get some positive results from his swing changes.

Parades is gonna be a stud for us. And possibly more productive than Bregman. His approach is great, his swing fits the park, and through 3 games he's been very impressive at 3B. Really like the potential and can see why they were after him multiple times.

Assuming it's legal, all I can think of is the person who came up with it may have a design patent and he licenses it to the Yankees only.

Otherwise it's open season. And if it really is a better bat then everyone will do it almost immediately.

If it's not legal, then let's see MLB void the wins. . And stats.

The craziest part of all of this is that the Yankees were confident enough in the bat to go straight to games that meant something and not try them out in spring training.

I'll wager $1000 they tried them out at length in the cages. At long length.

But they didn't want the cat out of the bag.

Just let them use cricket bats since there's no standards.

Yankees calling us cheaters is rich.

Unrelated, but MAN the A's announcer is tough to listen to. Would be absolutely brutal to have to listen to that 162 times during the year
