speaking of the Twins...

despite trading away 40% of their roster...Minnesota salvaged the finale of their series vs. the Guardians

went 1-2 over the weekend

Mariners have gained 2 1/2 games since the trade deadline

go White Sox

under the category of hope springs eternal...

last year's Astros were still puttering around after 112 games

the 2024 club was 57-55

(but about to get hot)

Looks like our strategy of losing most of our games but hoping the mariners do too isn't going so well

Rangers will end up losing 3/4 and gain 1/2 game.

They went out and got real players so it's probably not a good strategy.

There seems to be radio silence on both Yordan and Jake. Is the death knell tolling?

I fully expect Yordan to be shut down, try rehab, then have surgery in February. We'll see him in late May.
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.

We've heard virtually nothing about Jake from front office since he got hurt. It's odd

They had been hot already, after they dug the early big hole

Some rando dad on my flight to Pitt says his son is an orthopedic who works with the team says "Yordan will be back this season"… to which I said 'the medical team licks' (which garnered a look)

So, out for year likely

They tried rehab this past offseason and this year. They better go straight to surgery.

is Bush jumping Janek in the org hierarchy? or is he more on the 1B side of C/1B

Naylor and Suarez have obviously been crucial playoff performers in years past

hope springs eternal part 2...

the Mariners are 60-53

Seattle whipped the Rangers this season -- winning 10 of the 13 contests

they are done playing in 2025

the M's are .500 vs. all other competition

perhaps Dana was playing 3D chess at the deadline

and the moves made were really to ensure a strong position player group for the 2026 season

(if the players can make a difference in 2025 -- that's a bonus)

Just checked in to see we got swept by another terrible team.

Walker hits two homeruns and they are meaningless. His rare production outside of the west coast trip has been mostly meaningless this year. I'm going to do some deep thinking tonight and to find out if I hate Rogers or Walker more. Tough choice.

Can't some TV reporter (local) turn the camera on and ask Dana Brown - "Are you capable of giving your fans a real update on where Yordan / Jake / Paredes are in their recovery and continue updating us like times a week?" The Cold War is over, keeping secrets on personnel is not necessary, unless they're just too incompetent to know.

The Red Sox are terrible?
They're 3 games off the pace of the best team in the AL

Red Sox are far from terrible.

They've had the best record in the majors since early July.

They're actually a very good team.

Janek is hitting .260 in high A. Not a dominant player that you'd hope a first round pick would be.

They got 2 players with combined 50+ HR and about 150 RBI. Real run producers.

Yep and both of Walker's homers were early in the game to give us the lead. The post from Heineken makes it sound like they were meaningless homers hit late in the game when already down several runs.

Just saw that the benches cleared today in the Astros-Red Sox game because Neris was mad that a Boston runner on second could see his grip and was relaying it to the batter.

Not that it's a super crazy event, but it is really strange how the Astros and their fans act about "sign stealing." Their defense of using wires and cameras and trash cans is that "sign stealing" has always been a part of baseball. A buddy of mine was just doing this bit with me again recently.

Players on the field doing what they can to gain an advantage has always been a part of the game, part of the offensive strategy, and something you try to prevent as a pitcher-catcher duo. Using cameras, new technology, and dugout trash cans has never been part of baseball until the Astros did it.

Such strange behavior and apparently it penetrates both the organization and the fanbase.

The only thing penetrating the Ranger fans is other Ranger fans.

He's a defense first catcher. I wasn't a fan of the pick but he's not going to be an .800+ OPS bat in the majors.

In the last month we went from a 96 win pace and 1 seed, to a 89 win pace and trending towards a wild card

It's a miracle we're still in first place. The good news is we have a lot of pitchers coming back, and presumably a few of our bats. Frustrating, but still positioned for a playoff run.
