Top of the 8th was the opportunity. Didn't get it done.

Cam hammered the ball twice today.

And yet….. he hit it 15 foot in the 8th….

It's these kinds of excuses that are why he still gets time……. He doesn't deserve time right now. His bat is an automatic out and no runner advancing……. Worse case of any outcome,

Wasn't this thread complaining about our staff not giving guys enough rest, leading to injuries like last week?

it's not Dubon's fault...but he's playing way too much

Espada like Dusty has fallen in love with him...and has to put him in the lineup or in the field somewhere every game

Pena's return and Correa's acquisition...has not cut into Dubon's playing time at all

Cam needs to sit for a while

Then we give him the $100 million+ contract.

Cam's OPS is down to .695 and plummeting.

Yainer Ks looking and Cam has a horrible AB that started with two ridiculous swings. That pretty much did it.

I don't understand why any pitche has ever thrown Yainer a strike.

the Guardians (59-55) swept the Mets

the AL has 8 teams fighting for the 6 playoff spots

Blue Jays (68-48) at the top

the Guardians and Rangers (60-56) on the outside looking in

2-0 Mariners already off a Naylor bomb. They're better on both offense and pitching at this point.

Sox get one back with Robert causing chaos on the bases.

And now 7-1 Mariners.

Astros may not leave the Bronx as division leaders at this rate.

63 hits for the blue Jay's in the last 3 games.

45 runs scored.

I trust the Astros are officially scrapping the 6-man rotation the rest of the way

Framber and H.B. have to pitch every 5th game or 5th day

The 6 man rotation has and always will be the dumbest thing ever u less you have 6 guys that will get you 6 innings minimum every game. It's just way too taxing on the bullpen guys.

I'm honestly shocked we didn't add an arm.

I'm disappointed. Needed to be able to eat some innings and take some pressure off the backend of the bullpen.

There are like 4 pitchers returning

And who knows what they will look like.

And we got our first taste today that a returning pitcher isn't going to magically resolve any issues. LMC was also very up and down.

But that would make us carry a needed extra reliever and our two aces pitch another couple of games down the stretch if used like every other SP for decades.

I don't like it.

Jests aside I doubt HB or Framber appreciate the further enfeebling of SP and denuding of their stats either.

Yep the biggest fear is that these returning pitchers are going to take 4-5 games to "get back". You can withstand this from 1-2 guys but if we are constantly throwing guys out there getting "MLB Rehab" starts, we are in a world of hurt. Too many starters coming back at one time could be painful.

Our old buddy Julks could be the tying run in Seattle. No outs. Well that was 3 quick outs after getting two on.

Cam's 47 games in May and June were even better than Roman Anthony's first 46. It's Cam's 52 games in April (93 OPS+), July (61 OPS+), and August (22 OPS+ - before tonight's 0-4) that could cause concern.

Chas played well for years for us before turning into our worst player - thankfully without us jumping the gun on an extension.

Diaz was also a candidate we could have been locked into paying for a .850 OPS salary based off a little over 1/2 a season.

I guess we'd be buying low on Cam if we think he's going to be a superstar. If we offered him the same deal at $90 million + incentives (vs. $130 million + incentives) it would be tough to refuse given this might be his ceiling or less.

I would be hesitant to extend anyone beyond Altuve's projected retirement after the 2029 or 2030 season

Biggest weekend of the season IMO (so far)

Assume the mariners will win today and then win their next series. We really need 2/3 in the Bronx. If we don't get that, then second place is calling our name when we return home.

Man...Lot of chicken littles considering we just won a series and looked pretty good on offense while doing it.

Spencer was not good. Both teams behind us in the division are getting hot and have easier schedules the rest of the way. I think it's appropriate to be concerned.

This. It's baseball. Keep winning series and things will generally work out in your favor.

Pitching is still a big concern to me. I wanted an arm bad at the deadline but understand not overpaying.

Nobody should be surprised Spencer was rusty yesterday. Hope he bounces back but consistency has always been a concern with him.

But all that being said, they won a road series against a red hot team. Rest up and take the series in the Bronx.

Basically we're now pinning our hopes on 2 things:

1. A pitcher comes of the IL and does well (Javier, LuAce, somebody...)

2. Our offense stays in the form we saw in Miami, or better yet, gets hotter if #1 doesn't happen.

End of the season will be a fun ride. Baseball.

How good is any of us at our first day on the job after 4 months off?

When I came back from paternity leave years ago, I barely remembered how to turn my computer on, and that was only after one month.

Arighetti is talent. He'll be OK

I know the Yankees are in a rut, but they're like a cornered animal. They know if they don't turn it around soon, their season is toast. They're going to come out swinging.
