I wouldn't be surprised if he wakes up tomorrow morning with a sore hand or swelling and he never takes another AB this year.

He's either gonna (a) play through the pain until the season is over or (b) it becomes too much and shuts down for the year

My preference is (a). Even a 75%-80% Yordan is better than some of the current options. Time for Espada to do his Coach Kilmer impression.

Between Chas, Melton and frankly Trammell, if/once Yordan comes back two of them are not playing. If/once Jake comes back all three are not playing.

Diaz (.698 OPS, 91 OPS+) and Walker (.694 OPS. 91 OPS+) have dropped back below .700 OPS.

Who would have ever thought Dubon (.700 OPS, 93 OPS+) would have had a better bat than either this late into the season with over 300 PAs? Dubon is also at 1.9 bWAR.

Walker is 3 strikeouts away from his career high (133) with a month and a half to play.

I do wonder how much having "better"defense helps a pitcher, both mentally and realistically.

I say this after watching my own kid pitch. While he's pitched on different teams, having a smart SS and 1st base who can catch makes all the difference. Add in better OF, and I can see them helping a pitcher "look" better, at least on paper.

We're of course near the bottom (22nd with -9.27), but that's an improvement on recent years.

Yankees, Mariners, Tigers, and Blue Jays all in the Top 7 most favored. Hilariously the Dodgers are dead last at -14.35.
