Of course.

Wilson just got one back for the A's.

Not looking like we'll get much help from the A's, actually.

Espada being addicted to using pinch-hitters like his life depends on it but leaving Dubon in there to take the AB with the game on the line is some galaxy brain stuff.

Your choices were Melton and Sanchez. Both of whom shouldn't ever be allowed to hold a bat against LHP.

Sanchez's weakness really showed up in today's game

forced Cam and Chas to bat in the 9th

hopefully the Astros' wildcard opponent has a very heavy right-handed bullpen

so the Astros went 8-8 in August vs. the AL East

4-3 vs. the Orioles
2-1 vs. the Yankees
2-4 vs. the Red Sox

these games were tough
W

going back to Sanchez...

perhaps the Mariners are the preferred wildcard opponent

since Castillo, Kirby, Gilbert, Munoz, and Brash are all right-handed

The irony at the end is that we have totally flipped ourselves.

Early in the year we were so RHH dominant that we begged for LHP.

Now we are LHH dominant across the entire outfield. I would much rather face RHP. The infield is fine either way. But the OF of Dubon/Chas/Cam is a 7-8-9 disaster. They just aren't even competitive.

Don't care if he gets outs and doesn't give up runs

No help from the As today.

Seamen up 11-1 top of 6th.

Hate to say it, but if/when Jake comes back, Chas is a goner.

Really feel for him. He's totally lost the ability to hit a baseball. Some of it is mental and he needs a change of scenery. Some of it is self inflicted. He's totally forgotten that he was an opposite field hitter.

Chas needs to be DFA'd. He's just not an effective ball player any longer.

I would love to find a team that wants him and trade him. That seems better than a straight DFA.

It doesn't have to be much.

Padres got swept at home by the Ms earlier this season. They owe us at least 2 if not 3 Ws in Seattle the next few days

During the broadcast today they ran a promotion for an upcoming Dubon bobblehead day. And it showed the bobblehead holding two dogs. What's the story on this?

This has to be one of the most bizarre injury seasons I've witnessed for any team I've rooted for in any sport.

Crane needs to insist on a comprehensive report from the medical staff and training staff addressing, individually, each player's injury and the rehabilitation involved.

The only thing that I can think of that even remotely compares are those Rockets seasons from 2006-2009 when it seemed like either TMac and/or Yao were always going down with some sort of injury

I'm really enjoying these bizarre Bing AI creations of Astros Bingo.

Not a lot of updates on the card, per se. I do find it fascinating that Rafael Montero's ERA is so highly picked a square - 8 people have a point riding on it. He was up to 5.70 the other day, now back to 5.28.

Cristian Javier needs 2 more starts to activate a square for two people, a very cagey pick that I completely forgot about it until recently.

I'm going to go ahead and mark out the square about the A's drawing more people in Sacramento than they did their last season in Oakland. They are currently 1,796 per game behind said pace. They need to average 19,000 a game to match that # at this point, which is 5,000 more fans than the stadium holds.

I'm also wiping out the squares for Caratini getting traded and Araghetti making his milestones. Hanging onto the Chas "byebye" square he still has options and might just get cut.

In case you missed it, and I'm going to assume you did, Justin Verlander is now 1-10 on the year.

In case you missed it yesterday, the Rockies have tied the '32 Boston Braves for worst run-differential in a season with 31 games to go.

Unless told otherwise, I'll assume this means he is done for next year as well.

That's a good example but with usually just 7-8 guys playing a rotation in the NBA it's easy to have a couple injuries derail a season but to basically field two squads with injured players is just ridiculous.

I know Baltimore had their similar list but I seriously doubt it was as significant as ours, especially since we have more above average players than they do.

Walker ---> 0.0 WAR

And just like that Walker's back to -.2 bWAR.

Pena has put up -.1 bWAR since his return. He had a few good games immediately upon his return, but Joe gave him rest days until he got it out of his system.

It's a recent thing where they do a bobblehead with one of the players and his dogs. Not sure if last year was the first, but there was a JV bobblehead with his dogs about the same time of year. I have one from last year that I'll give away if anyone is interested.

My son loves bobbleheads, so if it's up for grabs, I'd love to take it off your hands.

Alvarez's and LMJs are the only two that really feel bungled to me personally.

This year it's been a rib, a freak bone break during infield pre-game warm up, soft tissue hammies and calf strains, freak hand capsule strain, and pitching elbow injuries that the team slow rolls severity to the media.

You can research each of those individually and get an idea of timelines.

For pitching - if you hear shoulder or elbow inflammation, just assume that dude is going to be out a long time. Once I heard Sousa had elbow inflammation, I said bye to him for the season.

A report to Crane doesn't change the injury. Aside from LMJ, the pitching rehabs off TJ appear to me to be pretty common and in-line with the rest of the league.

Also - Crane without a doubt is getting some medial update.
