Maybe they close out the year how they are playing now, which is not good. But the potential is there to be good again, and if they ALL play to their potential and healthy, they could be great.

It's not recent, it's who they are. They were barely over .500 in April and May as well. June was an outlier.

If we don't make the postseason? Yeah I think so. It will be a full staff change. They make keep one or both pitching coaches but everyone else in the dugout goes.

Make the playoffs somehow and go out in the WC round? I think he survives but Cintron and Snitker get booted. They may be seen as sacrificial lambs but it would be deserved.

They played great for a little over a month. And it was mostly AAA hitters and lights out pitching that did it. Besides that? This is who they have been all season. They just are not good hitters.

the sum just seems to be less than the sum of the parts, which isn't something you could say outside of maybe last year.

Offensively the loss of Paredes was significant. It feels like ever since the offense has just been moribund.

Pitching wise the return of Bad Framber in August has also been a factor. Actually it's Exceptionally Bad Framber this time, throwing his teammates under the bus when he isn't throwing at them.

Losing Hader and Jake have also been negatives.

I haven't seen much energy in this team.

Joe could be a goner, we'll see how the rest of the season plays out.

Yep, lack of energy. Too many guys slumping at the same time. Maybe the proverbial switch will flip but likelihood continues to decline, at least it feels like.

Talent wise most of the regulars are underperforming. Only Pena has an OPS this season which is higher than his career average.

He, along with Pena has been significantly over performing his career OPS this season. That'd be one more better bat in the lineup.

But a lot falls on the shoulders of Altuve, Alvarez, Correa, Walker, and Diaz. Hard to win games when at least 4 of that group are scuffing

They are mostly in Sugarland, got DFA'd or are on the IL. As we have gotten more MLB pieces back, we have gotten progressively worse since the ASB.

We're squeezing the last drops out of the run. Next season we lose one of our last two starting aces, after losing two of close to our last star position players still playing at an elite level.

It's not more than 2 (Pena) to 3 (Hunter) years at most where we'd be better served by having a bad manager to facilitate the inevitable rebuild.

We absolutely want to make the playoffs and then see if we can surprise as the underdog.

At this point to call the season a success for me will be make the playoffs and win the first series. If we do that, I'll be content.

Especially given as it stands now, our first series would be against the Mariners and Rangers… It would feel great to win that

Cool starry bra time...

When we were at Framber's no-hitter we were watching him warm up before the game. When he was done Brocamonte tossed a ball up to a girl in the stands who was sitting directly in front of me. It was a perfect toss that was heading directly at her nose and like most little ones, she had her palms up to try and catch it. I watched it coming in like it was slo-mo and right before it was going to hit her in the face I reached over her head and grabbed it. Everyone around me gasped and froze like I was going to keep the ball lol. Even my wife was petrified. I waved to Broc and put the ball in her glove and he gave me a thumbs up. I few innings later her dad thanked me for catching it. I guess he was oblivious at the moment and the girl told him she was scared of catching it.

After typing this I have no idea why this came to mind so yeah, cool starry bra.

This team is not winning anything of significance

Hate to say it but this team is beat mentally the minute they get on base. They know how bad the production is and I suspect they are all pressing so hard to score it's making it worse.

This isn't bad luck. It's a mentally whipped team. It's not going to fix itself.
