GD we needed that one BAD

And damn Yanier has turned it around here lately. Guess Cintron gets no love for that?

He has always hit Toronto well. If he does well past this series we can talk.

Assuming we make the playoffs, is it crazy to consider pitching Alexander 2nd ahead of Framber?

No. Framber in Game 2 of the ALDS:

While I'm ecstatic about the win tonight, I cannot look past the moves that Espada makes in late innings. He overmanages so damn much to the point that makes me want to pull my hair out and scream " what the hell are you doing Joe?" Alexander was dealing and had a low pitch count going into the 8th inning but puts Okert in who immediately blows the lead that Alexander had when he left. Then he pinch hits Altuve for Urias - why in the hell would he make that move? First of all Urias is more reliable defensively when your team is trying to hold on to a lead, and guess Joe didnt want to hurt Jose's feelings by not giving him at least one at bat. What kind of message are you sending your team with these asinine decisions Joe?

Cardinals dumbass Manfredman doesn't tag on deep fly to RF to lead off the inning. Unreal

Edit: then gets doubled off on an easy fly ball to CF on the next batter. Somebody investigate that guy for betting on the game. Altuve is probably watching the game taking notes

Since it probably wasn't a scheduled day off for Altuve he may have been sending the team a message that he believes in the GOAT in crunch time more than punishing him in favor of a backup, regardless of what the stats say (he's been a poor man's Dubon sans glove since mid-August).

We're going to need Altuve to get right regardless.

Is that the color that gets him crushed by a house? Asking for someone not in Kansas.

We really needed that win last night. If we can get the series today it will erase the bad taste of the recent bullpen meltdowns.

all right, the Astros need another win this afternoon

looking at the loss column:

67 - Astros
68 - Mariners
70 - Rangers
71 - Guardians

2 of the 4 will make the playoffs

walk leaders thru 146 games:

51 - Altuve
49 - Paredes
42 - Cam
40 - Walker
32 - Pena
28 - Jake
26 - Yordan

another thing to like about Cam...

42 walks in 421 at-bats / 469 plate appearances -- one walk for every 10 at-bats

Paredes has been out for 2 months and is still 2nd on the team

If I could take a look at one player 3 years from now and see his stats, it would be Cam. I think he's got some Elly de la Cruz numbers in the future, 25 HR, 35 SB,

Been a while since an Astros' Bingo Update

If you picked Yordan to hit .300 and lead the team in OPS, guess what? Homeboy is at .289 and just took the lead from Pena in OPS - .838 to .832.

We've got some real photo finishes upcoming, hopefully one of them isn't missing the playoffs.

Squares coming down to the wire:

Pena 17 HR - has 15, on pace for 17
Diaz 25 HR - has 19, on pace for 21
Walker 25 HR - has 22, on pace for 24

Framber 15 W - has 12, on pace for 13
Hunter 14 W - Has 11, on pace for 12
Rafael Montero <>4.50 - he's at 4.56

Kyle Tucker 25 HR - Has 22, on pace for 24
A's 75 wins - Have 67, on pace for 75

Some stat checkins: The Rockies are now -386 in run differential. The old record was -349 They're on pace for -428 runs and a 118 losses. The Sox lost 121 games a year ago.

Despite the fact that many of you have turned on Altuve the way I turned on A&M football after that UCLA game, he recorded hit #2,375 yesterday, this tied him with Brett Butler and Michael Young for 133rd all-time.

Michael Young played almost his whole career for the Rangers, making me wonder if he hates himself. He as a hit machine from 2003-2011, leading the league twice and surpassing 200 hits 6 times. He finished his career with a .300 batting average, a rare feat post 2000 and somehow only got 2.1% of the HOF vote in 2019, the same year Berkman got 1.2% of the vote.

Brett Butler played for the Indians, Braves, the Dodgers, and the Giants. He never hit more than 9 HR in a season and finished with just 54, but recorded 5 years of 10+ triples and led the league in triples 4 times. He scored 100+ runs 6 times, but interestingly enough never got 200 hits. He is most well known for a cancer diagnosis in his tonsils in 1996. It was removed and he resumed playing the next year.

My fondest memory of Butler came in the summer of 1992. I was working at a grocery store before heading to A&M with 4 or 5 guys I went to high school with and some other guys from Westbury and a few that were out of school. Nine of us went to an Astros-Dodgers came, sat in the front row of the pavillion, and decided sometime in the first inning, we were going to razz Brett Butler nonstop for the entire game.
It didn't faze him the whole game, but in the later innings, Pete Incaviglia put a charge in one, and Butler came racing back to the fence, jumped, mistimed it, and the ball hit the wall, and came straight down and hit him in the head.
At the time, it was probably one of the 5 greatest events of my entire life. We were all over him like a heart attack and he went down in a heap while the legendary Mitch Webster ran over and threw the ball in.

When Butler finally sat up, he seemed to look straight up at my buddy Andrew, who was high probably 90% of our senior year, who yelled, "HEY BUTLER! You're supposed to catch the ball with a glove not your face!"
And finally Bret Butler snapped, and said, "Hey, why don you guys shut the **** up?" And we cheered and high-fived having won the day.

It's the kind of season where I'm more comforted seeing Taylor Trammell's name in the lineup than Christian Walker's or Dubon's.

Alexander/Costanza has been such a bright spot for this team especially down the stretch, enough so that I hope bringing him back after this season is a real possibility.
