They gave it to Blubaugh. Never understood this scoring rule...basically, if the starter doesn't go 5, but left with the lead and the lead was never surrendered, it's the official scorer's discretion. I think they usually go with whomever came in after the starter, but have seen it given to others if that pitcher didn't fare so well.

Altuve's 2 hits gets him to 2,377, moving past Edd Roush into sole possession of 132nd pace on the career hit list. Roush played 18 years, mostly for the Reds in the 1910s-1930s, and was on the team that won the WS in 1919 when the White Sox threw it. He also lived a really long time, born in 1893 and dying in 1988. Hall of Famer with a career .323 average, he won the NL batting title in 1917 and 1919. In 918 he led the league in slugging at - well, .455, and in OPS at .823. He's 15th all-time in triples with 182.
Next up for Jose is the very unexpected Chili Davis at 2,380 over 19 seasons. Jose is now within 9 of passing another 2B GOAT in the recently departed Ryne Sandberg, who is at 2,386.
Jose's big slump the last few weeks will likely keep him from reaching 2,400 this season, but if he avoids injuries in 2026, he should be able to finish that year around 2,550. Still a long way to go, and it's starting to feel like the COVID year and that missed half season in '23 might short circuit hitting 3,000, but I hope not.
