Apologize if already discussed but what's our injury updates on all our players that could potentially be ready at end of season or post season?

Well, I got hired to ghostwrite the autobiography of a billionaire from the UAE yesterday, so
even though it's Framber on the mound Saturday, I decided that as a divorced dad, the responsible thing to start my Thursday off was spending some good $ to take my kids to see a playoff-intensity Astros game this weekend.

It's the perfect combination of my kids, the Astros, and a complete lack of my ex-wife!

Nothing like a ghost writer for an autobiography.

(I'm 100% sure that's the standard practice, just funny to me).

2 years I did one for a neurologist based in California, then watched him do an interview on cable news talking about his "process" of writing the book.

99.99% of the time I absolutely do not care about not getting credit for ghostwriting these books, I am all about the $$. But watching this guy make **** up about the writing process really hacked me off.

Astros Bingo Update 9-18-25
9 games to go

Here are the viable squares left in play.

TEAM RECORDS
We're at 84. 90-94, 85-89, 80-84 (i hope not) all on the table.
8+ win streak: Would be a helluva thing to end the year. Currently at 3.
6+ losing streak: Don't put that evil on me, Ricky Bobby.
A's 75+ wins. They're at 71. They need to go 4-5 to hit the square. They've gone 36-29 since July 1.

OFFENSE
Pena needs 1 HR to reach 17
Walker needs 2 HR to reach 25
Walker needs 8 RBi to reach 90
Altuve needs 12 R to reach 90 - big stretch, I know, but still possible
Somebody goes 20/20 - this would take Pena hitting 4 more HR before the end of the year.

PITCHING
Sadly, the only category still in play is Rafael Montero's ERA being <> 4.50. He's at 4.76 right now.

OTHER PLAYERS
Judge needs 7 HR to reach 55
Tucker needs 3 HR to reach 25, but still not sure when he's coming back

SEASON ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Astros make/miss the playoffs; yes we did have 2 people to pick the team to miss.
Astros win the AL West
Rangers miss the playoffs (aka Rangers blow)

I wiped out the Framber and Hunter win squares this morning when I'm dumbly realized neither can start enough times to get there. I also took out Cam 15+ HR and Diaz 25+. They are at 9 and 19 respectively. I'd love to re-open those squares, but dosen't seem likely.

Current Standings - $100 to the winner!

And one more update, Jose on the hit counter.
Hit #2,380 last night ties him with Chili Davis at #131.

Chili was about as unique as they come, born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1960 and drafted out of high school by the Giants in the 11th round in 1977. Moved to LA when he was 10.
Went straight to A ball in 1978 as an 18 year old and hit 16 HR and stole 15 bases while hitting .281. Produced at every level he went to as he got moved up to High A in 1979, AA in 1980, and AAA Phoenix in 1981. In 88 games in Triple A in 1981, he hit 19 HR, stole 40 bases, and hit .350. He played 8 games with the Giants in '81.

In '82, he won a starting OF job as a rookie and hit .261 with 19 HR, 76 RBI, and 24 steals. He finished 4th for ROY in the NL in an insane talent year - Steve Sax won it, Johnny Ray was 2nd, Willie McGee 3rd, Chili 4th, Ryne Sandberg 6th, and Steve Bedrosian 7th. That's a group that won 2 MVPs and a Cy Young in the next 5 years.
Chili was with the Giants from 82-87, giving them 15=20 HR and 70-90 RBi every year while hitting .265-.275. Being a switch hitter made him very valuable.

In '88 he went to the Angels and stayed in the AL as a OF/DH the rest of his career, becoming a more consistent power hitter and RBi guy. He had 112 RBI for the Angels in 1993 with 27 HR and in '94 and '95 hit over .300. He hit 30 HR for the first time as a DH in 1997 with the Royals when he was 37.

He was a perfect 3-0 in the World Series, winning with the Twins in 1991 and the Yankees in 1998 and 1999.

Best Part!
In 1993 with the Angels, he volunteered to pitch the last 2 innings of a game which the Angels were losing 18-0 to the Rangers. He had not pitched since high school. Here is the play by play of that stint.

Top 8th
David Hulse grounded out to shortstop
Doug Dascenzo flied out to center
Jose Canseco hit by pitch
Butch Davis flied out to right

Top 9th
Rafael Palmeiro grounded out to second
Mario Diaz flied out to center
Geno Petralli lined out to right

Chili Davis: Career ERA of 0.00.

Man, I'm pretty sure I picked Walker and Paredes to hit 25 HR. Maybe Isaac can have a couple 3-HR games when he gets back

Pretty damning for Cintron and Snitker to have this be a problem for this lineup for so long and to have them give credit to Correa for changing the "collective approach" of the team. Almost like the players feel that bringing in somebody new opened their eyes to the issue of pitch selection.

Sure seemed like in the first half of the season once settled in we had a lot better "luck" offensively especially compared to last year in close games and getting clutch hits. Maybe it was the pitching moreso keeping pressure off the bats, but I dunno if the approach ever really changed much (*at least before CC returned).

So Correa shows the team how to take a count, and Altuve convinces Espada to bat Pena leadoff.

Why do we even have coaches?

Also - shocker when your best hitters go 5 for 12 with 2 HR you score some runs.

The rest of the team went 1 for 19 with 7ks and 1BB.
