Looking at Detroit's remaining schedule, the winner of the Astros/Mariners series must have a very strong chance to get the 2 seed. Would love to see the actual probabilities.

Per https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/majors/2025-playoff-odds.shtml Detroit has a 57.4% chance to get the 2-seed vs 27.4% for Seattle and 13.9% for Houston.

the A's are 37-29 since July 1st

the Mariners could recover quickly from a series loss at Daikin (i.e. sweep the Rockies)

Or a sweep at the Astros' hands could put them in prime "let down spot" vs Colorado. You never know how a team will play against any opponent. Most here were not thinking sweep against the Rangers as being "realistic", but I'm glad the team showed otherwise.

This. It's a 3 game playoff series. Win and advance to the next 3 game playoff series.

It's 2 out of 3 at a minimum. Every series.

quoting myself because I definitely misunderstood the implication of the tweet. Looking at the schedule, Kershaw is pitching tomorrow against the Giants, and presumably that is the game the tweet is referring to. My point is moot, yay!

You have to account for the fact that he will inevitably be injured half of the year, and when he does pitch, he's basically gonna be a right handed Colton Gordon. That money is better spent on someone else.

He's currently scheduled to pitch this Friday and next Friday vs @ Seattle, so you're good.

Looking at the last 9 games, AL going to be chaos. Astros could be the 2 seed with a bye, or completely miss the playoffs.

It really isnt that unlikely to have the yankees and Astros as the 1 and 2 sees. Who thought that was even possible a month ago.

yes, any AL team that has a bad series is in jeopardy of sliding way down the seeding or out of the playoffs

especially if the Guardians take care of business vs. the Twins

Each team had two series after this one. We play two teams that have been eliminate, they play one plus the Dodgers who may be fighting SD for positioning. I think the schedule advantages us beyond this series.

And the Rangers were 38-27 since July 1st before they came to Houston this week and we swept them. Hopefully we can win at least two out of three at Sacramento.

They also do something that we are familiar with (not this year), they play worse at home. They are 33-42 at home. 39-39 on the road.

Need the padres to keep close enough the dodger have to play that last series.

As won't be an easy series. They are one of the best teams since the break.
