we knew the offense would have to be much more '23 this year. The few stretches that has been the case they have looked phenomenal. I just don't get it.

100% wasted year. This should have been sweep and 5-4 homestand. Instead 3-6 and season is over.

I was already headed this way but I am now a huge Seattle Mariners fan for the rest of the regular season.

What's the more surprising result - winning the World Series in 2023 or potentially missing the playoffs the next two years with essentially the same core group of players

I really hope somebody tells all one day about this year.

I'm not sure there's much to tell. The lineup can't hit worth a ***** A lot of these guys sucked last year, they suck again this year and the dudes they signed have sucked as well.

Coaching sucks too.

That's where I'm at. Everyone kept saying they were gonna break out of it "because 2023." Well, besides the first 60 games of 2023 and month of postseason this team has stunk.

Some of us have been saying for a year and a half that it was concerning that several of the supposed "core players" on this team had career seasons in '23, or otherwise over performed. The Rangers have had a long history of putting entirely too much faith in one really good season by a player - it's affected both the decisions on who to acquire, and who to keep.

There's far too many all-or-nothing hitters on this team playing key positions and occupying places in the batting order that require consistent production. Garcia, Heim…just a couple of examples. I still say Heim we could live with if the players around him were producing. The problem is that no one really has shown any consistency at all, with the possible exception of Josh Smith (who has earned every dollar they're paying him).

I don't know how they can fix it either, short of a massive sell-off that would mean a rebuild. But I think we've seen enough (almost 2 full seasons) to know that these guys are exactly what the stats on their baseball cards say they are.

Depressing.

Rangers are going to Toronto where they sweep the BJs... in convincing fashion.

Then to KCR... where they sweep.

Everyone here will proclaim the Rangers figured it out and "just need to make the playoffs."

And we'll find ways to lose.

This team really reminds me of the professional version of Aggie baseball this year. "Loaded" offense that just cannot seem to find their way at the plate, surprisingly strong contributions from pitchers, finding astonishingly painful ways to lose games, never seeming to find their swagger, etc.

Despite this, they have found ways to show glimpses of their potential.

The lows haven't been as low for the Rangers this year, and the highs haven't been as high. But on balance, I feel a very similar way to how I felt about Aggie baseball at the end of the season.

(Although I still maintain that the season isn't over for the rangers yet.. even if it's looking ugly)

Looking at the records and the clear weaknesses of each team, I would say that if you are going to call the Dbacks a bad team…. Then you would have to call the Rangers a bad team as well.

I think the reality is that the Dbacks and Rangers are very similar this year. One side of the team is a very clear strength, and the other half is atrocious. Makes for very frustrating results.

Yeah it's pretty bad in comparison to pretty much everyone else outside of a few. I'm not one to say that the farm system strength matters all that much, but we do need to do some internal growth and probably some adding to it.

We promoted a lot (Leiter, Rocker, Carter, Langford) and traded a lot (Bratt, Drake, Hagaman, Hales).

That's a bunch of your top 20 prospects either gone or in the majors. When that happens, the farm system ranking takes a substantial hit. It absolutely needs to be replenished, but it's important to point out that it really has served its purpose by both getting players to the show and providing trade capital.

We just need to quit drafting players in the 1st/2nd round with minimum upside potential.

IMO, winning the WS was the anomaly. I didn't think they had a chance in hell to make it out of the first round, how they limped into the playoffs. Lightning struck at the right time. Made the win sweeter.

So basically all our core guys are regressing, the farm system is bad, and we are over the tax? Wonder what the game plan going forward is.

What pisses me off the most is that we did not hold firm under the cap. At least if we'd done that, we could now say "well, we can be players on the free agent market next season".

And several here professed that winning teams don't let the tax deter them from trying to win and we should be all in for 2025.

Now - we cannot dive into the free agent market for 2026. Those calling for busting the cap this year got their way and have now sentenced all of us to several seasons of rebuilding.

Good point. As to your last sentence, I still don't know what we saw in Moore and why we took him in the first round last year. Limited ceiling it seems.
