I live in Kansas City now but I think I'm going to try and make a Dollar Hot Dog Night in Texas before the season is over. I mean at least it would give the other fans something to smile at.

Is it wasteful to plan an entire trip to Texas just to watch my team likely play some lackluster baseball on a random Wednesday night so I can buy cheap hotdogs while wearing a Hotdog suit? You bet it is.

But I have adult money, no kids, and I am dedicated to a bit.

FWIW - the dollar hot dogs aren't even worth a dollar. Pretty much a warm, cheap wiener on a crumpled up bun.

So basically the same as KC, they weren't great by any standard.

But then I don't really have "standards" so it works out.

You don't have to keep going, I was already going to buy several.

I was a dot in the dot race for three seasons in high school and college (at the old ballpark) - the free hot dogs were probably the biggest perk

Get the Dollar Dogs from one of the Hawwt Dawwgs concession stands where they grill fresh ones.

Haha, my dad insisted on going last night because of the dollar hot dogs.

Also, at the same food stands you can buy a 12oz Miller Lite for $5, or 24oz for $12…..and you'll still see people walking around with the 24oz cans.

Last season my wife got some vendors tickers that were on the 3rd base side second row (just outside the Crown Club). We sit down and she's all "now why do we need a new stadium again?" This was right after the vote had failed in Jackson county. So discuss it for a bit, game starts and we get into the 7th inning and she says to me "that guy in front of us, does he go to our church? He looks familiar."

I look at him and say to her, "No, that's John Sherman, the owner!"

She was mortified. He did give us a high five after the Royals won the game.

How did you decide who was gonna win?

By edict from on high. We had a little creative freedom with the pushing and falling

Man I really like Evan too but he is truly starting live up to the Grady Sizemore comp in the worst way possible.

Wouldn't be surprised if his career shortly follows. He's got a back that will be a problem now until the day he dies.

ETA: I see it's his wrist, but the point still applies. It's one thing after another.

I worked in the sports industry for nearly 20 years. Ever think about moving to a franchise/college athletic program that you have no emotional tie to?

Not really. I'm in my dream job, going on 11 years in a couple weeks.

Why do you ask?
La Fours
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I don't know that would be possible for me. If I went to work for a team, I am pretty sure I would become emotionally invested in them soon after starting. Especially once I get to know the people and build a rapport with them.
Mr Gigem

I think that can be mutually exclusive - emotionally attached to the people you work with vs the team you work for.

When I worked in OKC, I didn't really care about the team at all. Them winning or losing had very minimal impact on me. I did create some friends while I was there, but since I've been back here for the last decade, those are all gone with the wind.

I get where you are coming from, and that makes a lot of sense.

I have done it for the last 13 years. First UTA and now TCU. I find myself rooting for my friends who are on coaching staffs and the fact that if they get fired my job could be infinitely more difficult. It is quite nice.
