I wonder if some of Leiter's mentality is that he needs to strike everyone out and forgets about his defense and I wonder if that is some of what Jonah said to him. Definitely looked like he was over pitching there when he got in trouble. Not saying that's the case, just an observation/thought.

I believe I've heard Eovaldi talk about being a thrower and his transition to be a pitcher. IIRC, it was in context of talking about Leiter needing to learn that.

Hopefully being surrounded by Eovaldi, deGrom, Mahle, and Corbin... Leiter makes the transition quickly. Not like his dad probably hasn't planted those seeds.

I have high hopes for Jack. He's struggling to throw the FB for a strike tonight but when he gets it in the zone it is alive. I'd expect another inning out of him tonight, hopefully two but that PC is creeping up.

That adrenaline was flowing. I agree at 54 PC, he has 1... maybe 2. Eovaldi was pulled before 90, last night, and I think 1st GS you don't need to get too many pitches.

His 4S was hitting 99, but now at about 98. Last year, IIRC, it was sitting 96-97. I think he is getting a bit more out of it, so sitting at 98 wouldn't surprise me.

Hopefully that adrenaline will come down and he'll bring that pitch down a bit. But, he runs it high generally (or so I've sen).

Great job these last two innings. Labored pretty hard I. The 3rd and came back in the 4th and 5th with some good stuff. Maybe he'll come out for the 6th? I doubt it but he's at 80 PC so maybe a very short leash. I think the announcers said Webb was ready in the pen so Leiter is probably done for the night.
