Gastonia... wow... had to look it up. Ended in 1992.

You may be sad to know that our AAA is no longer in OK City and our AA is no longer in Tulsa.

MLB reorganized the minor league system after Covid in 2021... took ownership of many teams and reduced the teams (160 to 120) and how they were managed.

Spokane was our short-season and that league is no longer affiliated directly. It was a league that started after the June draft and many of the College players went there, that were drafted.

If you follow the minors, it has been an interesting journey for them. Bakersfield was one of our affiliates for a bit. We almost ended up with our AAA in Nashville, and San Antonio has bounced around.

I attended a game in Gastonia back in '92, the summer before my fish year. My sister was living in Charlotte at the time. Saw 1st rounder Benji Gil play. Never amounted to much at the MLB level, but did eventually win a ring with the Angels

Nashville was the Ranger's AAA affiliate for two seasonsl (2019-20) although the '20 season wasn't played because of covid

I interned at OKC in 2007. Seems forever ago! The Sounds were with Milwaukee, Round Rock was Houston, Iowa was the Cubs, New Orleans Zephyrs was the Marlins and many more that seem to be long gone.

I drove up Dallas North Tollway that May and passed Dr Pepper Park where Rough Riders are and there was the stadium, hotel behind, and Ikea. So much farm land.

Heim over Higgy in the lineup is certainly a..........choice.

This game aside, I think Corbin has benefited from a number of things this season.

Our BP has been great. Washington last year was 11th out of 15 in RP ERA.
The Rangers D has been the best in the AL.
He was resigned to chewing innings last year.


A good BP can help keep some Runs off the board and the Rangers defense (aside from today and the past week) has really helped the P.

Rangers have exactly one of 58 wins where they came back from more than a 1-run deficit. And that one win was last week in Seattle. So yeah, 3-0 Yanks is ball game.
