You are mixing different things.

I don't like their approach. I've been very vocal that the return of old school baseball has come. It is what they are talking about on the broadcast. Move runner. Aggressive on the bases. Situational hitting.

Replacing Late Lowe with Burger fixes the 4S FB issue, but does little for situation hitting.

What happened in July that led them to being 3rd in the AL in Rs scored for the month? They were 3rd in SBs for the month. They moved runners over. I had mentioned then that they were doing all of the things you need to do in small ball.

Whether or not a player can hit a 4S FB... or they can't... the fix isn't one or the other, it is the approach.

They are hitting .206 in 8Inng and later. That has nothing to do with 4S and everything to do with the approach.

Why they've spent the last 3 weeks reverted back to trying to compete for the highest exit velocity and trying to hit HRs that reach Oklahoma, is frustrating.

A bigger issue, IMO, is just their ability to find ways to lose games.

This season is strike 1.5 against CY

The funniest part about this is that there are 3 guys it could be.

Problem is, I doubt they'll unload the players that they probably should. Yes, Heim and Garcia will likely get moved, but I'd unload at least one of the high end guys - Seager is who I'd trade. We got a WS ring out of him, and I'm eternally grateful, but the combination of his constant injuries and the aloof attitude has me ready to 'adios'.

And before someone says we can't trade him, yes…yes we can. If Juan Soto can be traded, Cory Seager can too.

Given where the farm system is, and the performance the last two years, I'm perfectly cool with thanking Seager for what he did here and reloading. Same with DeGrom. Get some youth injection in this team and change out who is in the dugout shepherding the process and see where it goes.

My biggest fear is CY hangs his hat on 2023 (where they barely got in) and perpetually thinks he's 1-2 players away from winning it all. That will lead to the equivalent of the Dallas Cowboys' walk in the desert.

It's basically CY being Theo Epstein with the Cubs and just riding out his career as doing something miraculous and never anything else. But I do believe Epstein will win another title and I do think CY will get us contending again…if he doesn't bail on us because he wants to do something similar somewhere else

CY went to Highland Park High School. He has already turned down other jobs while he was working for the league because he wanted this one. If he leaves, it's because Ray Davis wants him gone. And they might be close to that point.

Whoa, you sound like me during our 6th straight losing season in 2022. Why would we burn it down? We can find more productive players that cost less next year. As frustrating as this season has been, we are 2 games under .500. CY made a mistake but most of those 7 losing seasons weren't even close to .500.

There is zero reason to burn it all down.

My point is I don't really care who stays or goes. No one on the roster is untouchable or has to be re-signed. There is no actual "burn it all down" in professional sports. But at the same time, don't be telling other teams that Seager and DeGrom are off limits without listening first. It's a roster that has missed the playoffs two years in a row and a bottom five farm system, so keep all options on the table.

The roster is broken and the coaching staff has no solution. They need a lot of changes or they will be entering into the definition of insanity.

I don't think anyone in the metroplex should be saying someone is untradeable.

There was a time where he would now be eligible to be traded. I believe that is no longer the case.

Not trades in August anymore. If he had been claimed Rangers could have just put his salary to the new club. This could happen with Kelly, Maton, Coloumbe, (maybe even Adolis) to get under the CBT.

Correct. The CBA change in 2019, IIRC, made it where they can't trade players of any kind after the trade deadline.

But, as LAAA tried to do a few years ago, they dump all of their players hoping another team would claim them, in order to get under the CBT.

I'm not convinced the Rangers are still projected to reach the CBT. There was speculation with bonus money that they'd exceed it, and taking Kelly closed the gap, but COTS is showing them still projected about $5M under.

I wonder if they were trying to clear a spot for Mahle who is expected back soon. Mahle is the one I'm hoping gets put on Waivers and picked up.

Not sure if Gray can be put on Waivers again and get picked up.
