I watched until the 4th inning. I'm depressed, too.

It was great seeing some offense tonight.

Mariners are losing and Houston lost so it's a great night to gain some ground. I just don't see us making consistent noise and getting to the playoffs.

The Mariners are now winning. Boston, NYY, and KC all won

In the most probable of unlikely scenarios, the team needs to go 20-8 over the final 28 games. And if you look at the schedule, the most likely team to catch is Houston. I can't believe that Seattle hasn't caught them yet. But HOU and TEX have 6 games remaining. 4-2, and winning the tiebreaker, basically makes it a 3.5 game deficit over the remaining 22.

If you want to dream, they've got to cut it to 4 by the time HOU leaves town on 9/7, and 3 by the time the series ends on 9/17. The schedule lets up the last 9 games. If they need 7 or 8 of those, so be it. That's the thin margin they have.

Houston seems catchable, but so do the NYY. Of course, the Yanks have run off 3W.
